Need some help designing a desk

So I've decided that my curret desk isn't exactly what I want/need, so I will be selling it off and am I am considering building my own. I'm hand sketching things right now, but I would like a program where I could design my desk on the computer. I can never get Google Sketchup to work right for some reason. Anyway, just looking for a nice, simple program to design with. Any suggestions?

Right after I posted this, I actually figured out some things and got Sketchup working, so I got it going now

Thankfully I've overcome my ineptitude and got some stuff done. Got me a couple ideas, but I think I'm gonna follow someones lead (can't remember his username) and use a 30x80 solid core door and 4x4s, with a couple 2x4s as support, like so:

I think it'll turn out well. Gonna plan a design to paint on it before sealing it. Just gotta get some ideas

I'm hoping someone who has built a desk will chime in and say if they see something that can be done better. The whole desk is basically going to be a frame made of either 4x4s or 2x4s, with wood paneling (not sure what kind yet. Maybe MDF). Any input at all is appreciated!
