would the pump cause rattle in the case, mounted like this?

Thread Starter

I am planning on removing the top harddrive cages on the coolermaster Storm Scout 2 and bend the original mount for the 655B pump so it sits like in the picture. (hoping the bottomn of the pump wont hit the GFX cards tongue.gif )

Would the pump cause the bottomn plate of the 5.25" drive bays to rattle, you think?

It is fine for him not to use a res. A t-line will just take a little bit longer to bleed his loop. So saying it is a bad idea is completely false.

I have had that pump mounted the same way. I did not get much rattle from it. I used the foam pad that comes with that pump.

He only has like 3" of tubing before the pump runs dry... pretty sure thats not a good thing.

He is fine. Many people use a t line and dont have a problem. It is not like he is going to walk way when the pump is running and the loop is not completly filled

OT but .... Isn't having the T like that going to unnecessarily restrict the flow? first of all, the fill line is after the pump in the flow. Second of all, the water has to make a 90 degree turn at the T instead of flowing around a curve and having the fill tube on the stem of the T.

How is the Fill tube after the flow? the way the pump would be orientated, it would suck water from the top and push in to the left.

Also, the amount of restriction a single 90 degree turn makes, is negligente considering the pumps power and that it only goes through one small radiator and one small block.

I have used the same pump with several 90 degree turns and with 2 radiators and 3 blocks with no issue what so ever.

It looks to me like it is on its side, with the intake, normally on the top, to the left and the out flow, normally on the side, on the top.

If that is not correct, then I withdraw my objections.

Just realized something. Not having ever owned a D5 pump. I think I have assumed that the flow goes 180 degrees from what it actually does. It goes in the side and out the top, doesn't it?

My error. At least I admit my mistakes.

The pump does indeed ahve the intake in the middle, and outtake in the side(top when mounted how originally intended)
