I’ve always wanted a computer screen mounted everywhere in my house, behind my bathroom mirror, on the fridge, streaming nothing but live info and Home automation stuff in front of me as I brush my teeth or get a snack. The only thing is, I always assumed it wouldn’t be feasible. I started to look through what we offer @ Xoxide, and I was surprised at all the options.

My home automation dream is where technology and convenience converge, forming a network made up of individual devices all working together in harmony.

Sounds easy right? Well there are a MILLION options, well not a million, but you get the point. Well, lets get Started!

When I started to get interested in the idea of running my house like I do my PC I was like HELL YEA! Then I thought of the possibilities. They are Seemingly endless. I can control my Lighting (No more switches?), Home security cameras (i use a webcam), Security Systems & Access Control (I have a key), Home Theater & Entertainment, Phone Systems (Who owns a Home Phone?), Thermostats (OMG I live in Florida I NEED THIS!), and even watering your yard!

Ok, so now I know what I can do, now I have to choose some "method" to control my stuff. I found that there are many different methods which allow you to remotely control your home. We have Infrared, Power line, Radio-Frequency (RF), Power Line & RF or you can just Hard-wire it into your house.

So what do you guys think? Is it worth hooking my house up to a Home Automation system? What Kind should I use?
