I would honestly like to know, who "ripped" off who? Because Day Z and War Z are too similar to be mere coincidence.

That said, I have been playing Day Z for awhile and I absolutely love it. I can't wait for standalone and for them to bring new things to the table such as creation and bases and whatnot. They even talked about creativity caves, but that is probably a pipe dream. Still, I'm having tons of fun as-is.

In fact, I upgraded to a GTX 690 almost solely because of Day Z. It's so poorly optimized and the frame rate drops to the 30s in cities, but the GTX 690 should be able to handle it. But of course, I'll enjoy the 690 in other games as well.

proof.gif I want dates.

Personally I prefer the feel/look of DayZ. I will probably still buy/play WarZ, but DayZ seems to be more realistic in its simulation, whereas WarZ tends to have the cartoonish (for lack of a better word) fake look of a Left for Dead style game.

Nonetheless, excited for both to be released. thumb.gif

I agree you on this the optimization of the ARMA 2 engine is really horrible, happily enough dialing back the AA and PP in game does very well for the gameplay.

I'm an original ARMA 2 player actually, I play mostly the milsim aspect of the game, but I did try DayZ for a good time, there are a lot of things I like about it and at the same time a lot that I don't like.

From what I've seen from articles/threads/videos they both have their ups and downs really. But seeing as I am a huge zombie fan, I pre-ordered War Z. So I shall assist with updating this thread about my opinions of the game. I can't wait for the 15th!

Not proof that War Z started before DayZ, but maybe at the same time?

Dont really think I will be getting involved in a game that is Pay 2 play (purchase the game), and Pay 2 win (in game currency)

Will wait for dayz standalone

The game is neither Pay2Play (pay a monthly subscription to play the game) nor Pay2Win (pay to buy a bunch of items to get an advantage over other players).

I've clarified that a few times on OCN. There's a very limited number of things you can buy with currency. Everything you find at the store can be found outside the store, but not everything can be bought at the store.

I already pre-ordered and will be on tomorrow for the Alpha!

I dunno. I checked out the War Z site and the forums and some of it just seems kind of sketchy. Apparently, the creator did a Q and A and one of the questions was "how will the War Z be better than Day Z?" to which he replied "Ummm, I'm really not sure .?" or something ridiculous like that.

I also heard something about your character getting locked out for 24 hours unless you buy a respawn or something to that effect. I don't know all the details but everything I'm gathering seems to point to the fact that War Z is trying to capitalize on the success of Day Z, and frankly, I have a hell of a lot of fun with Day Z so I'm gonna stick there and get the standalone when it comes out.
