Does anyone have a positive review for this game. I know that people are going to complaint because they are never happy. I want a decent review from someone that understands that this game is going through the Alpha and is only a day old.

I just bought the game this morning and I am looking forward to some mindless zombie slaughter that isn't terrible like Diablo III. I want to roam around and kill zombies for fun when I am watching Netflix on the side. More of a kill time than to get completely absorbed. I will attempt to play this evening but I would love to hear some peoples experiences.

Has anyone in here honestly had fun in the Alpha yet? I barely got to play at all yesterday, and when I did, I couldn't really do anything but sneak around the zombies. I saw another player crouch-running around with a line of 8-10 zombies crouch-running following him through the exact same path and with the exact same animation.

I like how the game looks, and the environment is pretty engaging. You hear a lot of "life" at night (crickets, frogs, etc.) and the zombie moans are a little creepy. Movement feels decent enough; so far I'd say the game is looking much more optimized than DayZ.

Every post I've seen of yours isn't positive at all and you don't even own the game. ( I'm done ranting)

Everyone I've talked to has enjoyed the game so far. Some are a little irritated due to kids trying to go all COD with flashlights in spawn areas. Once they open up the maps and servers more, I think people will enjoy it more.

Agreed, the problem is, that the map is too small, meaning people get bored and start a rampage. Once we get up to the full map people will (hopefully) get other things to do.

Yea it's extremely annoying. Flashlight should do 0 damage against human players. In a real situation in this game you have to be pretty retarded to run up to someone and try to kill them with a flashlight. It's pretty annoying to spawn and have 4 COD nobs run after you together and bash you in the head until you die.

If you read my initial post, I was hoping this would be good as I think DayZ stinks. Unfortunately it seems pretty bad. Not my fault that the majority of people playing this think it blows.

To be honest, this whole thing just seems completely half-assed. I haven't even seen War Z footage, but I've been watching War Inc. gameplay for the past ten minutes and it looks like a cheap COD clone or something similar. The gameplay looks rather dated, the graphics are largely unimpressive -- it just doesn't look like a quality game.
Compare this to ARMA. I think that ARMA is actually dripping with quality even though the engine is not very GPU-friendly. As a military simulator, I think it's actually pretty sweet and you can tell that a lot of attention to detail went into the weapons, sound effects, environment, etc. Hell, Day Z looks as good as Crysis at some points. The environment can look very striking on high settings.
I think that Day Z is coming from a much more solid foundation with ARMA, and I think it's clear that War Z is a quick re-skin of War Inc. to capitalize on Day Z's success. Add this to the shady nature of the dev and his more-than-questionable responses (or lack thereof), and I think that the correct course of action is clear: avoid.
As for me, I'll be downloading the DayZ standalone on Day 1 and supporting Rocket and his continued development of a game which I have been enjoying for the past few days. My two biggest gripes with Day Z are hackers and the poor optimization. I have a GTX 690 and still get 40 FPS in cities. I think that if the Day Z team can fix these two issues, it will open the game up for more players who don't have super powerful hardware just to be able to "almost" run an unoptimized game.
In my opinion, Day Z is very fun as-is (though, hackers can ruin this experience very quickly). That said, I also think it has a ton of potential left. There are so many things that could be done in the future to vary the gameplay and keep it alive for a long time. I really hope that Day Z succeeds and thrives.

thats actually wierd that your 690 only holds 40 FPS in cities in dayZ , my pair of 6850s in CFX push 120fps+ consistently check your settings out

I was getting pretty bad performance as well with 2 570s. It didn't seem to be using both GPUs at all.

Still have not been able to join any server, other than for a quick moment last night. The server browser lists many servers that are not full, but when I select join server I get a notification stating that it is. This happens with every server I try (30+).

It's a bit disappointing, but guess I'll give it a few days.
