First Overclock

Thread Starter
I put by machine together and dove into overclocking.

I'm not sure if i did it correctly because it seemed to simple. maybe the basic OC is easy.

I went into the bios and changes the CPU ratio to 46. The computer boots fine, I started cpuid multiplier is at 46.
Also the turbo ratio changed to 46

I started Prime 95 its been going for an hour, the temps spiked but have come back down.

Currently they are at - 74, 82, 80, 81
They spiked at - 87,98,92,92 that was about 20 minutes into the test.

also the power is at 1.328 V

So should I be worried about the temperature spike?

Is changing the CPU ratio enough or even correct?

What else should I be looking at?

Thanks allot.

OK well frist we need info on our pc specs. On top of screen click profile then add your pc specs in the list. If you dont know your stuff cpuz is a nice tool, But it seems like volts to high.

Yes 3770k with h100 cooler and a saber tooth z77 board
post #6 of 6
wow, if the 3770 heats up that much @ 4.6ghz my 930 @ 4.2 is good.

As for it heating up mite be just a hick up . I like to use linx cpu stress to max out temp on cpu but never gets that hot on gaming .

Stress it as where it at then to bios. Lower cpu volts 2 times and stress it (again an again) till you bsod bump up one and stress. then if its good well your good to go . I like to have it 1+ bump above stable for extra confidants that is wont bsod on me in the middle of something.
