Hello, hope this is the right place to post this.

I am planning on buying 23'' monitor and was wondering which one I should get. I will be gaming, watching movies, videos, basically need an all-rounder Monitor.:

Asus

Dell:

I just bought that exact Dell monitor a few weeks ago and I love it! It's a great value and it doesn't consume a ton of desk space.

Well I use a ASUS 23" VH236H and it is great for gaming and watching vids (netflix etc etc) plus I have never had any issues every when I have bought a ASUS monitor. Also I finally got 2 more for surround.

Plus also there is mail in rebate also which I see NCIX also has for the vh236H. Either way I suggest to go with ASUS so either 23" monitor will be great for your needs.

Well - if 5ms isn't an issue, you could consider an IPS display over a TN one.

Not sure what that means. As for the 5ms, I thought 2ms was best for gaming and overall performance?

Ignore the manufacturer response times, they are meaningless. IPS & VA panels always have higher manufacturer provided response times but in reality many, especially newer IPS are on par with TN's.

The Asus VS239H will have better colours than the displays you selected and will have similar response times and better viewing angles.

Just make sure to buy from a place where you can easily return+exchange displays (not NewEgg or NCIX unless you buy NCIX's warranty) like Walmart, Best Buy, buy.com or Amazon.

The BenQ GW245 is also a good 170 ducket-ish display.

IPS bro is a new form of LED tech - put it that way - they "look better" and have better viewing angles - supposedly.

Response time - lower is better, so yes 2ms is better than 5ms, however will you be able to notice the difference- i don't know.
I gamed over 3yrs on an asus screen with 8ms response time - and only recently upgraded my screen to an IPS LED LG IPS234V 23" monitor with 5ms - 3ms difference - have i noticed a single bit of change in "response time" - no personally.
However I have noticed a DRASTIC difference in contrast, sharpness, and all that other good stuff smile.gif!
Do bear in mind I'm comparing a 3yr old LCD with a new build IPS LED display - so take my comment as it is, and don't abide by it, but just some personal input from me smile.gif
