A few questions about E6300 & DX10

Ok so my next upgrade is a new motherboard and a E6300. Im going to get the gigabyte GA-965P-S3 so that i can overclock my CPU. My questions are, first of all how high do E6300's usually overclock on this motherboard. And if i overclock it high enough, will it do good paired with an Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS DX10 video card?

Thanks 2 helpers

The overclock depends on the cooling. I'd expect somwhere a little bit over 3 Ghz, though, in the range of 3.2 with good cheap cooling like the Artic cooling Freezer 7 Pro. And yes, it would do fine with an 8800GTS.

So are you saying around 3.0 Ghz with stock cooling?

No, with better than stock cooling. Intel's stock cooling is horrible, if you get the parts, do yourself a favor and spend the extra $25 on a Freezer 7 Pro.

Yeah... you could do stock, (if your lucky like I was) but even then temps hovered around 60, way too high.

I'm now @ full load 46C w/ the AC Freezer 7 Pro. Best 25 bucks I've ever spent.

P.S. I'm @ 3.2GHz

Yup, with a quality cooler and fan combination 1Ghz OC is attainable for 24/7 operation.
