swan m60 + DAC or reciever+speaker set up

I want to spend around $1000 on a speaker setup for my home theatre. I like small form factor speakers but i want as good as quality as possible.

So my question is, what would be better...

Swan m60 5.1 speakers + Sewell Digital to Analog 5.1 DTS/AC-3 Decoder
http://www.swanspeaker.com/product/htm/view.asp?id=438

http://sewelldirect.com/Sewell-Digital-to-Analog-51-DTS-Surround-Sound-Decoder-SPDIF-to-RCA.asp

or a $1000 home theatre setup (av receiver + speakers)

i have a bluray player and media player and a 50" 1080p 3d tv. I will be using toslink/optical connecters. the swan m60 only have analogue rca inputs.

i can get the m60s for around 960 and the DAC for 60

cheers guys

$1000 is a decent budget, personally I think you'd be much happier building your own. Would you mind towers as fronts or would you want bookshelfs?

Here's what I would do.

http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/accessories/542469405/energy-rc10 These x2. That'll give you four speakers. They're a steal for what they're listed for.
http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/accessories/548727215/energy-v-mini-c-center-channel This for your center

For receiver I'd probably get a refurb one from AC4L.

http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/DENAVR1612/DENON-AVR-1612-5.1-Channel-A/V-Home-Theater-Receiver/1.html#!more

For subwoofer, it's pretty flexible as to what you want but I'd do something like this.

http://www.amazon.com/BIC-America-F12-475-Watt-Subwoofer/dp/B0015A8Y5M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1349979251&sr=8-1&keywords=bic+f12

So here's our total.

4 Speakers: 439
1 Center Channel Spkr: 199
1 Subwoofer: 200
1 Receiver: 179

Total: $1017 + accessories, wires etc.

It's a little over budget. If you'd like to save some cash you could go with a cheaper receiver and/or subwoofer.

first i would sell the blu ray player and build a nice htpc with blu-ray. game, movies, surf, check email ect on your big screen tv.
i think the swan set-up is very nice dont know about the dac? for reciever and speakers i think it going to cost about the same. look at some polk speakers and a yamaha reciever no dac needed built-in the reciever. dont know what in aus?
