i need a budget (50 usd) router...

Thread Starter
hello, i need a router, heres my specs

30 mb/s download
5 mb/s upload

what i need

really good wireless speeds (for my laptop and my galaxy s3)
really good wired speeds (for my pc, gaming, downloading, streaming)
somewhat security (which they all have)

i live in an appartment, so i got from bedroom, to living room to washroom, no going through floors, just 1-2 walls..

thanks you, it would be even better if it can be bought from walmart as my last router died and i need one in the next hour (work related) and they are the only thing open, but if i not i will try to survive the night.

my last router was 6 years old, slow and a pos, it also didnt have proper wireless (the antena broke some years ago), it was a d-link something that i paid 20 for new, nothing special. thank you.

UPDATE

so i started having issues with the router, wired connections wouldnt work, tried mulitiple cords and resets, nothing, so i returned it, ended up paying another 60 and getting a cisco lynksys ea2700, which so far i have have zero issues with.

it is likely the router i had got was defective, but i didnt want to deal with it anymore.

thanks for the help everyone

i am sure it would be better than your old router.. unfortunately the router i would recommend that is quality is $98 at walmart and $79 at amazon and newegg
ASUS RT-N16 which would perform better and more reliable than a d-link router
http://www.amazon.com/RT-N16-Wireless-N-Maximum-Performance-single/dp/B00387G6R8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1349848082&sr=8-1&keywords=Asus+RT-N16
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320038
http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-reviews/31058-asus-rt-n16-gigabit-n-router-reviewed

if you can pony up the extra $30 i would go with that

2nd choice would be TP-LINK TL-WDR3600 N600 for $69 at amazon and newegg or the TP-LINK TL-WDR4300 N750 for $89
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704144
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704136&Tpk=TL-WDR4300%20N750
unfortunately the is not much sub $50 decent wireless routers out there

You should look into DDW-RT for it runs great !

defanitly, anyways, heres some specs

on my pc, my dl went from 15-39 dl and from 2mb to 5.9 upload (did the runs on three servers, that i always do)

on my cellphone i went from 1mb to 4 mb is i was standing with the phone right at the router, to 15mbs about 20 feet away at my pc, and my upload was at 2.5mb/s

so definatly saw some huge imporvements, maybe it was because my router is just so old, or because this one is just muuuuuch better.
