Ok i have set all setting as with the Overclocking guide.. luckily i have same setup as the chap doing the guide.

What i am finding though is when i start the PC up, load realTemps cpuZ and prime they ready everything as i have set it..

Multiplier at x46 running at 4600ghz voltage of 1.28, then as soon as i start Prime they switch!?.. and state 4451.42 mhz(100X44) (realTemps)

CPU-Z states 4586.69MHz, Multi x44, Bus Speed 104.2Mhz CoreVoltage 1.404 !??
And ET6 is showing same as CPU-Z...

Very confused..

Any Help appreciated

ok i loading optimised defaults and just adjusted the voltage and multiplier i set the base clock to 100Mhz so it is not auto.. when i start up the software again they are throwing different value..

CPU-z is still stating bus speed of 1.4Mhz multi of 44 @ 1.38 volts..

Nothing near what i have set in BIOS..

ET6 is throw Bus speeds of 1.4Mhz -1.6 Mhz..!! Multiplier of 44 at 1.368 Volts..

Arrgh.. gonna set everything back to default.. don't wanna bust this thing

Help appreciated

uninstall ET6 ..lol
realtemp, cpu-z, coretemp you should use
i like Aida ,

it shows alot of usefull info, like min/max voltage etc, got a cpuid too, a stresstestprogram
but to make sure i look at cpu-z also for voltages

its normal what you see, your proc downclocks, because of powersavin settings in your bios..
if you use a program to load 100%, it will go up ..

setting baseclock manual to 100 is good,
youre voltage for 4.4ghz looks high tho, you should be able to get that to1.25 or less..
if you have vcore set to auto, it will give more voltage then needed

Right got ET6 uninstalled and everything seems to be just fine and dandy... i do see to have a hot core though.. 73c,79c,73,70c.. Prime95 40 mins.. running at 4.7Mhz.. are these temps ok? My volts are 1.310v

going to re-bed the cooling block when MX-4 arrives and if that doesn't make a difference gonna try replacing the Thermal crap under the i7 lid.. very carefully.. can'y afford a new processor at the mo..

is there any other way to get the temps down?

I have 200mm corsair fan on front 2x 120 corsair performance fans on side of the case plus 2 coolmaster.(crappy things) still air flow hough.. then case stock extraction fan the 240 rad stock XSPC fans pulling air out.. so 200mm pls 4x120 mill pushing air in then 3x 120 mil pulling out..

should i be concerned with the dodgy core at 79c. or is that acceptable with hunky dory 3 gen mess of a cpu cooling solution as is..?

Thanks for the tip about ET6 btw way.. was making thing go mental..

thanks

those temps are very nice with 4.7ghz, but/and you have a good cooling setup,
if you can get 4.7ghz stable with 1.310V vcore you should be happy, i would ..lol

30- 40 min is a good indication with prime, for temps etc if you really want to see if its stable,
do a costum run, and use 80-90% ram, leave everything else as it is
12H run is minimum, 18H is better, then it doe a full cycle, 24H is best,
also check eventviewer for HWEA 19 errors, they are good to see if you need to up vcore some more,
i noticed crashes or bsod after i saw whea19 errors..

1 core is almost always hotter, i had the same before i de-lid my 3770k,
under full load 10-15C difference on that core,
partly because of the TIM intel used.., but has also to do with the distance between the Die and IHS,
and the "gap" the tim has to bridge..

that's is pretty much normal for some 3770K ... on top of quite high voltage your chip needs to run given speed there is also most likely a faulty application of TIM under IHS in intel's factory ... some batches are better, others worse ... to solve the temperature issue ultimately, you will need to remove the IHS (delid it) and replace the el cheapo TIM with something like Liquid Pro.

.. other than that ... you can put more fans on 240 rad and try optimizing the vcore (run 25% LLC and higher offset vs high LLC and little offset or fixed vcore).

aah kk so it all comes down to the gap. Is it straight forward to de-lid the thing.. got some Liquid Ultra on its way, not here yet but looking to see if i can get the temp down even further plus upping the quality of the Paste between cooler block and chip.. using K2 at the mo.. will use MX-4 hope for a couple of degrees.. better. would like to run at 4.8Mhz at 75c Ideally.

What TIM did you use when you de-lidded the chip? or did you go for a mount direct to the chip?

Thanks

i used Coollaboratory Liquid Pro after de-lid, i tried AS5 first(5 to10C tempdrop), but that didnt give me nearly the
temp drop when i used CLP, 25+C ..just crazy ..lol

so, now i run into max voltages before TJmax ..lol
my chip isnt very good with voltage, for 4.9ghz i need about 1.490-1.510V vcore to get 24H prime stable ..o well
4.8ghz i just got stable a few days ago, but 1.420V vcore needed for 24H prime, no whea errors

76C hottest core

and no, i put on the IHS again, since i use a kinda heavy cooler, push pull too,
im afraid to crush or damage the die over time, or with seating it,
i would only go for dierect die, if i had a water cooling..

I still didn't delid it. First I want to make sure my chip can do 5GHz without degradation over next 2 weeks wink.gif
My former chip degraded severely in 8 weeks for no reason (max 4.8GHz, used daily at 4.6-4.7GHz), want to make sure I didn't get another lemon like that one.
max I speed I can stress test my chip at normal room ambient is 4.8GHz, anything above that requires cheating on ambient room temps with AC and such he he. For now using IC Diamond between the IHS and cooling block (Raystorm here), but eventually going with simpler to apply Prolimatech PK-3.
got some project coming in (AC Cold Air Intake) for that 5GHz test/benchmark. if all is good and dandy, I will be deliding it in a month and using CoolLaboratory Liquid Pro under the IHS.
