Best gaming online community you've experienced?

Thread Starter
Hi Guys,

I was curious if anyone through their gaming has a favourite online community they've found?

I found the Dark Souls community to be some of the friendliest, co-op players always bow to you and there's a great sense of comraderie. Plus people weren't pricks, ha. And the message boards of people piecing together the lore and discussing strategies and secrets.

An old shooter called Delta Force 1 and 2 by novalogic. The community was small, but a ton of fun, highly competitive, and really the only reason to play the games.

Don't know which one was the best, but I actually find people to be very nice when I'm playing Guild Wars 2.

People have a love/hate relationship with WoW, but honestly, I've had great experiences with friendly and informative people in WoW. With such a HUGE player base, it's easy to pick out a good group of people and stick with them. I just started back into WoW on a trial before deciding on buying MoP or not, and already found a great guild on Cenarion Circle (trying my hand at Horde on an RP server after years of PvE/PvP mindlessness...)

A lesser known community is with the game Vindictus, by Nexon. This is a F2P action game that has grown a ton in popularity since it's US/EU release a few years back. There's a great player base and I have overall great experiences with the people I meet. People are friendly, informative, cooperative, and i haven't experienced a lot of 'elitism' or general asshattery as is rampant in many other online venues... WoW included.

I will say, WoW still suffers from a LOT of elitism at higher levels, but on a fun server with a good guild, that can easily be overlooked by having friends to support you. Being on your own, I can easily see being quickly alienated by the overwhelming nature of the WoW community, but with a little effort, it's not hard to find a place and be happy. Even if you treat the game as a glorified chat room with graphics and some pew pew.

+1 to this.. for playing WoW for about 4 years, it is a decent social tool to make new friends. Usually upon joining a guild, they usually have a guild mumble/vent/ts3/raidcall and you can start from there.
Of course if you want to be the best and raid, that'll be a different story as there'll be more "raging" and possible drama etc etc etc.

Lol, this is true, raiding can be very stressful! I quit because it was just too much time devotion to keep up with everything.

Yeah, WoW is fun... until raiding becomes all that's left... which is why I chose an RP server. I'm hoping that once I'm raid-capable, we can do world pvp events and I can still have fun. My guild has a FB and Vent server as well (I prefer TS frown.gif ). If it becomes a time sink with too few rewards, tangible or emotional, I'll stop again. In the end, the community is an emotional bond. No emotions, or no positive ones at least, and the feeling fades along with the interest in the game. Which is exactly why I left WoW for about a year at a time in between expansions lol.
