Alien VS Predator Original It was the first time I ever joined a clan, Clan VS Clan matches back then weren't so serious it was just some fun banter.

I miss casual clan v clan scrims... I used to have them back in BF2 and they were great! Now it seems with all the YT popularity that people doing BF3 scrims are overly serious or downright unpleasant to play with. It's kind of disappointing people have such a hard time sitting back and enjoying these GAMES lol.
Well for those playing BF3, my group, LCS (Last Clan Standing) is more than happy to have a friendly scrim on PS3 or PC. I'm on the PC side, but we do it all. We have a TS that we're happy to invite you to as well.

Not sure if i'm 'allowed' to plug directly or not, so Admin feel free to clip the below link if needed:

www.qualitygamer.com

I'm a PC admin for the clan, so stop by, drop an apply, and hop in TS to chat with us all. We're fun, but thick skin may be needed for some of the ribbing we give each other. If you've ever seen the Jav Squad vids (the original ones!) on YouTube, or Gaktok's Rage Cage vids... that's us biggrin.gif

Crysis and Crysis Wars when they were thriving. This is a bit of a biased point of view though, I was a highly active user and modder on crymod.com so I knew lots of people. All of the well known and great players would team up and actually use teamwork, and when I was just a rookie at the game, one of the best clans took me under their wing and made me into one of the best players. biggrin.gif

Regardless, that community actually had players who also knew how to have FUN. We'd set up unarmed servers where we had to punch each other, or use the environment to kill each other (launching objects at each other), platforming challenges, driving stunts, etc. We took advantage of the modding abilities and made ridiculous and fun servers, but also very competitive servers (teamwork or twitch style, the games had both). No FPS community comes close to this.

It also helped that these games + server-side mods had the best anticheat I've seen: internal anticheat, Punkbuster (meh), combined with custom anticheat methods made by mod developers and the best admin tools by far.

Another worthy mention is Metal Gear Solid 3 before online was closed down. Again it was a more close-knit community especially for the highly skilled players, and there was a good mix of humorous servers and highly competitive servers.

The community of modern shooters like BC2/BF3 and Call of Duty just consist of everyone. Lots of whining, lots of cheaters, no team cooperation unless you're in a clan, lack of competition (also the games' fault), hardly any creative and fun servers (also the games' fault). So the games are a big problem, not leaving the players much to do aside from the same small-amount of copypasta content.

WoW when i played that. all my friends played it at school. But i stopped after a year when my computer broke and haven't played since.

When i was like 12 or something i used to play alot of HL2: deathmatch and other hl2 mods as synergy and such. Thats also when i purchased my first headset. Even now a lot of people play that game i beleive. So that is one of the best communities ive ever participated in. Very friendly overall. and also a very, very good game!

Where ever you go there is going to be a mix of people you do and don't like. Out of all of the clans I've played along side in various games; Project Reality's, HARDCORE Clan & the people who play at Arma2, Untied Operations servers. And I saved the best for last, big props to the staff and moderators of CS:S, 'After Hours Pub'(AHP) server!

Star wars galaxies by far and away, i have played almost every mmo that has come out since swg in 03 and none were even close. Thousands on a server and I had conversations with almost every single one of them. You talked to your enemies because there was no built in barrier to stop you. Guilds had their own cities inside the persistant world with faction bases they would defend within their cities creating rivalries between guilds that attacked each others bases. The crafting was by far the most i. Depth i haveever seem and it actually matterd to make friends with the best crafter in a particular field. The was very little instancing or dungeon play so people had to create their own content through interaction. I doubt i will ever play another mmo seriously because no theme park mmo could ever have as satisfying a community as swgs sandbox.

Gears of War 1 on the xbox was a very competitive, but respectful community. Then it all went to crap with Gears 2 when the COD and halo kiddies came in and ruined the entire game.
