I don't think I can put it in less, or more simple words than that. TF2 also didn't really gain many players by going F2P, they alienated a bit of the former fanbase but made it up with new fans.

Which is a natural occurrence in pretty much all video games, although I will agree with others that BF3 probably won't live as long as others, but I'm okay with that. I would rather see the battlefield series continue to progress and hopefully get better (I know certain people are automatically going to say it won't, but whatevs tongue.gif).

Yeah...No. TF2 has had roughly the same amount of people playing since before it was free, around 50k.

No, it wasn't, I said that BF3's amount of players has declined and people took that to assume I meant it was dying.

TF2's gone down on the consoles and possibly overall, but thanks to its updates it has stayed relatively the same as far as I know.

At the same time, EA do not give a rats about how long it lasts as long as they can get BF4 out the door before everyone gets sick of it.

It's supposed to be just as the title implies, aftermath of the earthquakes that destroyed the city in the beginning of the single player. I'm hoping it's linked to what they said about wanting to have earthquakes mid-match. That would be pretty awesome. biggrin.gif

yeah I think the maps are going to be infantry maps. I hope we can get strike at Karkand type of maps. Maybe 1 or 2 armored vehicles for each side.

we really need interactive maps like that.

Did anyon here play Killzone 2 online? There was a map there where you were fighting on moving trains. If you wanted to jump from one to another, you had to be careful and see if the gap between the trains are coming up to a wall or not. That was awesome. I really like when maps are done that way.

Earthquake in a middle of the war, or random buildings collapsing at random times would be incredible for BF3.

Actually CSS grew from its initial release. TF2 as well grew from the initial release, even before it went F2P. I'm sure there's plenty more games that have grown after the initial release.

Initial release of CSS was 10K at peak hours.

The community is really strong with that one biggrin.gif
Can't see a community being as strong in other FPS type games.
That being said i truly hate TF2, and uninstalled it from my PC. It's not my type of game.
BF3 on the other hand is a totally different type of a game. One thing I know, if that game was on Steam as well, the number of players would be higher for sure.
Edit ; Does anyone know how many people play BF3 on PS3 or 360? How is it compared to COD games on consoles?

Ya, I miss having communities. It's what makes the game so much more enjoyable than it already is. It's one reason I don't play on consoles, as its always match making...

EDIT: I'm sure LoL,HoN, DOTA 2 have been growing as well.

Neither of which are triple A games with massive releases and hype built around them. tongue.gif I guess that should be specified.

I'd say the fact that BF3 is maintaining population during releases of some pretty awesome games is actually kind of impressive.

"Community" which I personally found BF3 lacking, mods, free content/updates, etc. Is what makes people continually enjoy the game.

I am talking about OEM pcs actually, most people don't even have a gtx285 equivalent or better. I have a friend who has a q6600 and a 260gtx game runs just okay on CQ maps not sure how well it could handle a huge full 64 player map. There are people continuing to enjoy the game 51,000 of them today at least. I do agree the lack of mods hurt the game, but the game is still fun for me and the additions to it such as armored kill are the best bf3 maps so its still fun. I used to be a huge fan of the DC mod for 1942 and POE for nam but stopped caring for bf2 mods, project reality was not very fun and did not keep the bf gameplay; while POE2 and forgotten hope 2 were excellent but nobody played them.

Also as another said Bf3 released with alot of marketing and hype many of the people who bought the game did not like at it straight at the get go but when your game is advertised to be a cod killer you attract people from that base. All the battlefield games released with a large base that dropped over the years does not make them bad games.

LOL, HON, DOTA 2 are again free to play if they weren't im not sure they would be growing, look at HON before it went FTP on the verge of collapse.

true, and it wasn't my intention on denying but rather a supportive intention as i can make it work as i did in BC1 and 2 in BF3. ^-^ it's pretty easy to front line recon with a bolt action if you know the weak point of the weapon your using and the strong point which in good moderation can pick off the Supression teams leaving the supression teams of mine clear head to move forward more quicker but the weakness is the loading will be frequent compared to the rest so it leaves a few seconds to the enemy to regroup. redface.gif
