My best wishes for you there. We here from Brazil are watching the breaking news from you country everyday.
Concerning to my UPS I already tried to plug it into another usb port and the same problem happened. I tried Intel and Asmedia ones.
The hanging problem is just fixed unplugging it. It seems to be the UPS problem or maybe he demands a lot of power from the USB's, probably. Or even it is caused by the UPS software that has not been upgraded since 2010 or even previously.
Concerning about the 3603 asus bios when you release the modded one should I upgrade the MEI and Asmedia again or it is not necessary?
Thanks in advance.

10x my friend.

You made a good point, and the answer is simple: NO, both are stored in a separate rom space, i wasn't sure myself a while ago, and did some checks to verify this at the time, and i find NO downgrade in the MEI and Asmedia Roms after a bios flash.

Your UPS bug seems annoying but irrelevant to its functions or work, i wouldn't worry about it.

It is recommended to verify that the latest/appropriate IRST driver is installed BEFORE flashing the bios, but, if you are using an older mod of mine then you should already be using a new IRST driver anyhow.
I refer to 11.6.2.1002 & 11.6.1.1001 obviously.
astrotweak,
I had not seen that they had added in the drivers, thank you for the clarification smile.gif
I'm using 11.6.2.1002 and everything else is up to date as well so there should be no problems there.

PS: There is a new version for the MEI firmware, so regarding that part..., well, you should update the firmware of the MEI regardless to the bios flash.

New version is 8.1.20.1336, always note that there are 5Mb and 1.5Mb versions for the MEI, the 5Mb is for X79.

I recommand using the Asus firmware upgrade tool - http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1155/MAXIMUS_V_EXTREME/IntelME81_Updating_Tool_V10001.zip , extract to an empty directory and replace the Data.BIN file with any ME8_1.5M_Production.BIN file from the new MEI firmware package - http://www.station-drivers.com/telechargement/intel/chipset/me_firmware_1336.zip .

I don't use raid0 at all but is it advised to mod my bios? What's the point of the MEI firmware update?

Also I have that new bios 3603 installed but can I keep the intel RST 11.6 version instead of 11.5?

To clear out, I'm not using any raid.

Thanks for the files and tips. I'll do that.

Another question. Regarding to the 3603, Asus kept all old ROMS? I mean Raid, VGA etc in this new release needing it to be modded and even hasn't updated MEI as well.

All of the newer firmware's are for better stability and performance.

Surely, the bios mod has some fixes that some users need in term of functionality (it wont work well without the bios mod), but for the users who don't 'need' the mod it is simply a performance increase and a way to achieve better overclock and a more stable rig.

You can keep the RST 11.6 and it will work well with this bios mod.

Just to clear this even more: I'm not using Windows 8 or Raid 0 too, but i'm a heavy overclocker (beyond the 5ghz per core) so for me bios mods are all about better stability.

When i download the new bios i checked the oproms that are included and found out that the versions that i'm using are newer, since neither of the versions were the 'last' versions aka what i use for my mod, then i didn't check the 3603 vs 3402 versions, but i'm guessing that Asus didn't update any of them (typical Asus).

This is a problem with Asus products, while the hw is very good, they fail to keep the software up-to-date. This is why this thread is needed.

You have the same MB as me.

The bios you are currently using is not the best for you, the newer version from Asus or the newer version mod that i made are better since they fix some bugs and allow better performance.

I recommand you to use my latest mod for the 3603, the best way to update is from witnin the bios (Asus Ez bios update).
