hi, got problem whit fx 8150 oc, i see posts that you can easy oc fx 8150 on air to 4.6GHz, when i can only do 4.1 GHz stable.

my spec

fx 8150 4.1GHz Zalman 9500 (45 C max temp) and i can't pass 4.2GHz!

GA-970A-ud3 Gigabyte

8GB Ram Corsair Ven... 1600 ( but only shows 1333 and when oc higher buck to 1333 )

shapphire 6950 2gb ram whit 6970 bios

750 extreme modular Corsair Power

maybe is new bios that block me of higher oc, i had to update bios on my motherboard.

even change of voltage no help, please help me, maybe someone got close spec's

cheers

Not understand your problem? your memory clock is going to go down to 1333 form 1600
Your not going to beable to push the FX much past 4.2 on air with CPU cooler.
not saying that its a bad cooler just 3 heat pipes to cool a very hot cpu.
FX can be push alot and it looks like if you have it at 4.2 at 45c then you have some head room

Is 45c idle temps or temp after running Prime95 for a couple of hours

DO NOT GO OVER 61c with this processor. If you see the temps rising above that turn back your volts and clock speed.

Ruffly you sould beable to set your clock to x22 muti at 1.465 volts at a nice clock at 4.2 and get good temps.
I dont know what your reaching for but it seems to be close to what your after.thumb.gif

Just a quick check make sure that you haven't tightend down your CPU heatsink alot. Tighten it down with your hand and then 1 small tighten with a screwdriver nothing more. You will con-cave your cpu and connection become a problem this is the most common problem with overclocking.
Also your mother board is a 970a need a 990fx for max OC

check your voltage, also you might have to set your ram speed manually... my 1866 ram was defaulted to 1600 when I first put it in.... now its at 2000 :3 OC your fsb and multi together not just to voltage and make sure you turn off turbo core and all that jazz

I think we will need a bit more detail of what you mean by you cant overclock past 4.1. Is it unstable (blue screen during windows load) or failing a stress test etc. What cooling do you have? What voltages are you running on your cpu. What frequency are you running on your northbridge. What voltage is running to your northbridge. Information like this is needed to help you push your cpu farther. Also, updating your bios to the latest version might help as well.

my clock is 4.1 from multi only, my v core 1.424v and i run only occt what shows 3.9 to 4.3MHz !
i diddin't touch bus or disabling stuff in bios yet, but updated bios to second last one from amd web, last one its a beta version
my cores are at 22 - 25 C whit no gaming or photoshop, when gaming 45-50 C

and can't oc my ram or even get real speed 1600! blue screen or loading in circle and bios at the end

Ok you are going to need to disable 6 thinks

1. Bios in MB M.I.T. Disable Tubro Core
2. Load line Set to Extreme in Advance Bio Settings
3. Disable K8
4. Disable C1
5. Disable Cool and Quite
6. Disable CM8

Once those settings set your Muti to X22 that should be 4.4ghz
Dont mess with FSB or anything

Set Power to 1.4625

Download Prime95 Run test.

Temps should be around 23-30 idle and when running Prime 45-50c

Did this last night for a friend once you get that set we can set up your memory
