Hallo
I'm not asking which ssd is better among ssd 830, crucial m4, plextor m5 (not sold in my country frown.gif ) ,whatever. But if in your opinion there going to be a price drop of the Samsung 830 on november, with the launch of the 840. Otherwise i'll buy it in a few days.
Thanks

K.

My question is somewhat related... bear with me. I don't want to start a new thread for such a simple question, and since I also, am considering the SAMSUNG 830 - I am just going to hit you guys with a question. I've searched around the forum and only seen vague ideas of what to do.

My mobo doesn't support trim. I am afraid I a going to ruin the 830. Can I run wiper on this thing? Is there any way for me to manually perform a garbage collection?

Since there is a price drop (i referenced the low price of the SSD, so this isn't off topic now) just use the cash I'm saving to buy a SATA 3 controller (PCIe) with AHCI, and pray the system is willing to boot from it. I hear those things are an absolute disaster, and rarely work properly.

Don't worry about it.

Samsung has their own optimizing software, Samsung Magician.

Garbage collection runs on its own dude, no user input needed...

I wouldn't bother, unless you get a real good one, something that is NOT PCIe x1 atleast lol.

Thank you. I will just run the SSD and do my best to leave 25% of it empty since my mobo will never run TRIM.
