Hi there!

Alright i have recently purchased these products

Mordaunt Short Carnival 1 (Two speakers)

Mordaunt Short Carnival 9 (Sub)

Amp is most likely going to be a 2 way channel amp

Im completely clueless on the cables and what i need to purchase...
Please can somebody explain what cables to buy and how to set up the whole system
i will be connecting it to my laptop for now...until i get enough money for my new PC build

Please help me and share some knowledge!

Many thanks in advance!

First your going to need to get an amp the has both outputs for your speakers and your subwoofer. Without the output for the sub you wont be running that. Then you'll need speaker cables and a subwoofer cable plus a method to hook all this up to your laptop. Depending on which amp you'll get you can go either with a digital out from your notebook or analog. Digital will be an optical out or digital coax while analog will more than likely be a 1/8 stereo jack to RCA.

Others might have more insight but thats the basics.

Not true. His particular subwoofer has high level inputs and outputs. Basically from the amplifier to the subwoofer and then to the speakers. There is some amps that do have sub outs or line out for subwoofer use.

What amplifier are you going to be using?

Basically if you use your analog output/headphone jack. Then you will need a male 3.5mm to RCA cable. This will go to the amp.

You will need speaker wire. I recommend at least 18 gauge wire, from the amp it will go to the sub's high level in (if you don't use an amp with sub out), then more speaker wire from the high level out to the speakers.

You're ready to go after that.

Sadly it doesn't, but you can just route the speaker cable from the amp to the sub. Then to the speakers.

Honestly you would be better taking advantage of the subwoofers low pass filter. Less stress on the speakers' low end frequency.
