Hi all, would appreciate feedback/comments on setup/location of coolers
Case: FT02 with intake fans via fan controller ~ 650 RPM
CPU cooler: H80 with PWM fans (under 1000 RPM)
GPU cooler: Arctic Cooling Hybrid = heaps quieter than stock (its an ASUS 6950 2GB with DCII cooler). GPU temps lower also
current cooler set up A
current cooler set up B
goals = silence & minimising heat build up in a small office with 4 x 24" monitors (running 3 plus monitors on AMD cards bumps up idle/light workload temps by 15 degrees – onya AMD!)
While I could have mounted the second radiator (for GPU) on one of the 180mm fans, it was bugging me to utilise the otherwise wasted space of spare 5.25" bays. The hard drive mounts are only used for 2.5" SSD drives so plenty of air still passes into the empty bays. By mounting a rad in this space, the aim was to direct heat to the top outlet opposite the PCI slots, at worst being no less effective than cooler DCII fans blowing heat into the case. I figure I'm also maximising airflow to the motherboard by not obstructing the 180mm fans. (have also got a drop on the Intel PCB - but I think it was previously blocked by the DCii cooler.
PC now seriously quiet. Temps are all currently awesome but it's also not yet summer!
Any thoughts on the placement in the empty bays?? Are you aware of an off-the-shelf solution that would work for mounting the radiator within the bays? I don't want to mod the case or leave the mounting as it is using zip ties.
thanks in advance
