Build Help

Thread Starter
OK it seems I overestimated my Dad's budget.. he says he could only stretch to around £300 for a build for christmas for me. Now depending how this DS sale goes I can have around 100-150 extra on top of that, plus whatever I get from aunts and uncles (I'll just ask for money this year so that could also be up to 100) but ideally the build needs to be around £400-£450.

So, can you help me? I don't care about brands, as long as I'm able to overclock a good amount to get my money's worth. Obviously I'd prefer a core 2 duo rig but I don't think that's going to happen with this budget.

Basically I use my PC for MSN, Music, Videos, general web browsing, Guild Wars, FEAR, etc.

I need:

CPU
Mobo
RAM
GPU
Case
HDD (1)
PSU

I don't mind which site they're from, but preferably from 1 site to save on some shipping costs. UK sites only please.

TIA guys.

That's not bad. I suppose I can reuse my old case which I have now.. It's a pretty old banger though lol. How does the 7600GS perform?

Around the same as the 6600GT, which isn't that great :/

Sapphire X1950 Pro 256MB £131.59 inc VAT
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=GX-134-SP

That above card would be leagues ahead of the 7600gs but it is way to hard to fit in your budget unless you reuse your current HDD

Well I found a review of the 7600GS.. I guess it would do what I want it to do...

EDIT: Would a 7300GT with GDDR3 do better than the 7600GS? It's cheaper.

I might go with a 7600GS with GDDR3.. I'd expect quite a bit more performance out of that. Also, how many amps does that PSU have on the +12v rail?

TBH, depending on the amount of money I get, I could even squeeze in one of the cheaper 7600GTs.
