It's better in some situations, and a little bit worse in others but the difference is not worth $100 lol.

i think an i7 would be a better choice
pair it with a 660ti or a 7850 ? (idk which will help better in video rendering stuff)
a cheaper 500w PSU maybe?

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 670 FTW 2GB- - $409.99 at Newegg

PSU: CORSAIR Professional Series Gold AX750 - $169.99 at Newegg

If you're serious about video editing, consider the i7-3770k, otherwise the i5-3570k is great. Also, check this post for some better ideas on how to spend your money for the same (or better) calibur parts as what I've seen listed above... except for the 660Ti, stick with the 670/680 or 7950/7970 GPU and go with this PSU.

Edit: of course, nix the monitor, keyboard, OS as applicable... should be able to get an incredible $1500 system from that if you already have those parts.

$1,500 sim~build (Click to show)
Here's a sim~build around your budget, went with still i5 2500K (since you insist) + sabetooth z77 mobo + 650W modular corsair new TX series power supply, tried to fit a 480GB ssd by Sandisk Extreme, as you like bigger, but sacrifice the ram to 8GB mushkin 1600, you can add later, I use a 7970 videocard good for gaming & rendering purposes, as gtx 680 kepler are not efficient in rendering. I used a 5 year wrty 1TB WD Caviar black much better than seagate. included a legacy optical drive, hyper 212 evo & went with Fractal core 3000 for the chasis much like same feature as the case you pick. NCIX -us equivalent $1,500 build

Kepler's Compute performance is really terrible, you should go with a 7950/70 for video editing. If your primary focus is gaming, stick with a GTX 670/680. Also, if your primary focus is video editing, do not hesitate to get an i7.

Here is a quick build $1500 build (Click to show)
PCPartPicker part list
CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($319.99 @ NCIX US)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100 92.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($103.74 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($182.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Samsung 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($44.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: Samsung 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($44.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($129.99 @ NCIX US)
Storage: Samsung 830 Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($89.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 670 2GB Video Card ($369.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Corsair C70 Military Green (Green) ATX Mid Tower Case ($129.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: Rosewill Green 530W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($49.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $1466.65
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

As for a SSD, there is barely any reason to get more than 128GB. If you manage your SSD, by moving programs/games you do not use onto your HDD instead of your SSD, there will never be any reason to have more than 128GB. I have a 256GB and it is never over halfway full. I got it, not knowing I could move programs over to my HDD, I ended up being naive and getting a 256GB. I think I have ~60GB of games on there right now. And the rest on my HDD, since I am not currently playing them. The program I use to move them is called Steam Mover.
