Raid0 and trim

Thread Starter
so intel came with the Raid0 trim from SSD's in array.. http://www.anandtech.com/show/6161/intel-brings-trim-to-raid0-ssd-arrays-on-7series-motherboards-we-test-it

they say that only 7-series chipsets is working with the trim..

my question is: is it a way to know for sure if the trim is working or not for a ssd raid?

i have a p8p67 so its not supported, but many ppl say that it is no diffrense in the sata interface that will make it only work on the 7series

No go for p67 chipset.
either buy a new mobo with z77 or such.
but I would rather run a bigger ssd single disk than run raid.
No practical difference in actual use.

Nobody knows for sure why it's doesn't work, but it won't so no need to test. Wait for latest OROM to come out and see if that brings it to 6 series chipset too.

Depending what drives you have, it really has little to no impact to have TRIM nowadays. For example, the only difference after having run months without TRIM and then getting it was with HD Tune showing straight line for Seq speeds. That's it. No other bench showed improvements.

I guess you could say wear-levelling won't be as bad as it can remove stuff via TRIM but the life-time on the drives is so long it doesn't matter anyway.
