I would go with nVidia too, I had x1900xtx and I love my 7800GT way more.

IMO NVIDIA drivers are much better for dual display setups, but ATI isnt that far behind.

Id say go with NVIDIA

Also, you can also mix and match what people tell you to get, just so long as it still kicks ass.

In terms of the monitor situation though...

I would personally get a Viewsonic vx922

19" lcd with true 2ms response time = no ghosting and awesome graphics.
and it still looks aaalllooottt better than ANY crt that I have used.

the e6600 setup previously stated is interesting, but it is still 200 dollars over budget!

just my 2 cents...

He won't show up unless you say something wrong about PSUs. Something like "My PSU is better than that 1kw PC&C because my PSU has 72A over four rails instead of just one!".

Elec, I have heard that 7900GTO is no longer in production, so dont hold your breath for it to come back in stock..

7900GTO=7900GTX underclocked because of faulty artifacting RAM=limited supply of 7900GTO

I would just go with the 7900GT...well that IS what I'm going for..ha

Good luck with your build!
