Plasma TV with screen burn.... worth it?

Thread Starter
I'm thinking about picking up a 42" Plasma with "Screen burn only on warm up" as the seller describes. The seller is asking $200 (picked up). Its a Samsung, but I have no clue what the model is.

It sounds like a good deal, but I know jack about plasma TV's so I wanted to get some opinions before I buy a paperweight.

Newer plasma's dont normally have that problem, which leads me to wonder how old this unit is?
I have an old sanyo 42 inch plasma that has a really great picture, vivid colors etc. but it is prone to screen burn in. Any static image on screen for more than about 30 minutes will leave a shadow in the screen for quite a while. The worst one was after the wife and kids set it on the direct tv music channel to listen to xmas music for nearly a day - the onscreen icons were clearly visible for many months afterword, I was sure it would never be normal again. But to my surprise, after not being used for over a year, i fired it up and it was completely gone - no idea why , or if that is what normally will happen with a plasma.

My parents have a 1 year old 43 inch samsung plasma and i absolutely love it, they only gave $400 for it brand new , so you may want to take that into consideration.

I would offer him 150 smile.gif
