Original xbox component to hdmi issue

Thread Starter
I have an original xbox console which I would like to use with the biggest screen I have, a 27 inch LED LCD monitor with a VGA port, a DVI port and a HDMI port.
I already knew that the way to get my original Xbox connected to my monitor was going to be some what complicated as I have to convert signals.
So, what I have done is bought an original xbox component cable
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/COMPONENT-VIDEO-CABLE-YPbPr-High-Definition-Original-Classic-Xbox-/271072669704?pt=AU_Video_Game_Accessories&hash=item3f1d30b008
And a converter to convert component to HDMI
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Component-Video-YPbPr-RGB-Audio-R-L-HDMI-Converter-PSP-PS2-/120987631712?pt=AU_Television_Accessories&hash=item1c2b6cc060

So I have everything connected and it some what works. The problem is that I get a box on my monitor that says "HDMI OUT OF RANGE 15.6KHz / 50Hz" and the box doesn't go away, however, the monitor can display the video signal being produced from the original Xbox console, and if PAL 60 is enabled on the console the montor will not display anything.
So, with my xbox 360 console I have, I decided to test the converter connected to my monitor and everything works fine although if I flick that switch on the component cable to "TV" i get the same problem.

So I figured I am missing something to convert the signal but I am not sure what so I need help trying to figure out what else I need to get my original xbox connected to my 27 inch monitor which is a LG E2742.

What Resolution is your Xbox set two? you may have it two high for your monitor or one that isnt supported?

Why dont you get a component to DVI? component is analog so it wouldn't require converting, i used to use it with my old tv.

Hmm thats odd but in your post your saying your monitor has a HDMI Input also why not just buy a HDMI cable instead of buying component cables and a converter thats how i done it on my 23'' LCD which only has DVI & HDMI i just connected it straight intro the HDMI port and mines a samsung 23'' LCD

They make a VGA cable for your xbox. This is what you want to buy. Component to HDMI is pointless and overly complicated.

That cable is for the xbox 360, I have the original xbox. I was considering VGA for my Xbox but I couldn't find any converters and the original xbox doesn't support VGA.

There would be no point Connecting your Xbox to HDMI.

If it was me i would get a:

Xbox to VGA or
Xbox to Component and Component to DVI.

And then connect your PC to the HDMI port.

Edit: the original xbox come with RCA? get an RCA to VGA.

Sound

Adapter

Connect the yellow the Vga Adapter, and then connect the Red and White to a Phono to RCA for sound

Why dont you get a component to DVI? component is analog so it wouldn't require converting, i used to use it with my old tv.

I would have gone for component to DVI but I couldn't find a converter.
