Connect the yellow the Vga Adapter, and then connect the Red and White to a Phono to RCA for sound

I am pretty much covered for sound as my speakers use RCA for input and output and they also came with those 3.5mm cables.

For video one thing I know about these converters is that they work one way but not the other. I was planning on going from component to VGA but the converter I was going to buy didn't support the original xbox.

See my post.

I think I see what you mean. A cable that has DVI on one end and component on the other.
I saw ones for VGA but I didn't buy one because people were saying that most monitors wouldn't like it.
Looks like I am buying one of those component to DVI cables. As long as that cable tells my monitor that there is a DVI cable connected to it, then it should work as my monitor won't allow me to switch to DVI if there is nothing connected to either end of the DVI cable

This is what I was going to buy, and I think the reason why is because xbox doesn't use VGA standards.

Also, it cost more than the converter I bought.

You only need a converter if you was changing from Analog (VGA) to Digital (HDMI).

Because the Xbox came with Composite cables its analog so a Composite or Component to VGA/DVI should work.

If you get it to work will you post on here to let me no.

Thanks

I will definately post back on here when I get the problem fixed. I probably have to get a replacement component cable because the one I have doesn't work all the time (I think there is something wrong with the green cable). I can see this on my converter box as it has an LED to indicate when a signal is sent to it.
I have also heard about some AV HD pack for the original xbox.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HD-High-Definition-AV-Pack-Adapter-Original-Xbox-/260837211704?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cbb1bfe38
I think I might buy that as a backup plan because I relized that my xbox isn't sending a HD signal through the component cable which is why HDMI is out of range.

I will be buying this cable and I hope that it will tell my monitor that something is connected to it.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Hama-DVI-I-3-RGB-YUV-Component-Plugs-Adapter-Cable-/190507326223?pt=UK_Computing_Sound_Vision_Video_Cables_Adapters&hash=item2c5b1f1b0f

VGA definately won't work unless the monitor supports sync-on-green. My monitor has separate syncs.

As long as I can get rid of that annoying message box that won't go away I will be happy.

I have also heard about some AV HD pack for the original xbox.

I think I might buy that as a backup plan because I relized that my xbox isn't sending a HD signal through the component cable which is why HDMI is out of range.
I will be buying this cable and I hope that it will tell my monitor that something is connected to it.

VGA definately won't work unless the monitor supports sync-on-green. My monitor has separate syncs.
As long as I can get rid of that annoying message box that won't go away I will be happy.

Thats looks fine, should work imo.

Have you checked your monitor settings to see if it accepts YPbPr as an option for color mode? If it does, you only need to change that setting and then can simply get a component to VGA cable and it will work.

Thread Starter
I have checked all my monitor settings and I can't see an option for it. However, I have a button on my monitor called "mode" and when I push that button I see two options, PC and AV. I don't know what this option does but when I change the setting I see some colour/brightness profiles for like Movie, Night, Day, etc. These profiles change when I change the settings for the "mode" option.

Perhaps it auto detects VGA and DVI which would be PC and then HDMI is AV?

I checked the LG site and it appears it doesn't say anything about YPbPr in the specifications, so I'm thinking you don't have the option sadly.
