240 Rad for CPU and GPU?

Thread Starter
Hey,

After reading a while, some say a 240 rad can cool both cpu and gpu while others say it can't.
I'm hoping to cool both a 3570k and a 7950 with mild overclock.

The rad I'm hoping to cool this all would be the EK-CoolStream RAD XT 240, as it seemed to be the most thick 240 rad for a decent prize?
Was planning on fitting this with either 2 corsair SP120 (quiet) or 2 performance editions or 4 quiets.

I don't have room in my case to fit a bigger radiator and I want it to be as quiet as possible.

Thanks in advance,
Thomas

General rule of thumb is 120mm for each item in the loop (apart from RAM I suppose).
So 240/2 = 2 therefore it should be fine for a CPU and a single GPU, Two CPU's or two GPU's.
Going for a 360 would be a wise option, but if it's a thick rad i'd say you're alright, of course just buying a triple rad now (if it fits) you'd have the extra cooling and cooling potential if you do ever add a board + RAM or a second GPU to the loop. thumb.gif

these new ati 7-series cards stay really cool on mild OC'ing on air. that CPU can have a rather large temp increase at about 4.5GHz +++. based on that personally i think you will be fin with that 240 for mild overclocking smile.gif

Youll be 100% fine. One friend cooled a mini itx pc with a single 140 thick EK radiator and was more than enough. i3 + gtx460 and temperatures never went beyond 55º in either components.
