Need to stream video and audio to TV via LAN

Right, so theres my request.

Basically I just need to stream the video and audio from my PC to my TV via a lan cable. Now, I cant use an HDMI cable, as the distance is too great, so I need to connect from PC to PC (with the TV plugged in as a monitor on the 1 PC.

Is this possible, and what software will allow me to do it properly?

you mean ethernet cable?not sure!there are so many stuff that enter into this field and ms pull one way via wcs, icc, pull the other via their own way ,ycbcr and ypbppr also pull on the other side and screen maker ignore everybody and just plain optimise their screen for non-srgb !hdmi, dvi,dp,all have lot of junk that will probably cause issue!your only way might ,and i say might be via vga!

Yup, via ethernet cable, I want to do audio as well, so VGA wont work so well. Im going to be streaming a game of BF3 onto my TV, in case this helps bring an answer. It needs to be good quality and decent speed as well, and MUSTN'T even think about using the internet as that will affect my BF3 gameplay

You can look into something called ultraVNC. A free program that can the share the display over LAN.

However, I've never tried it with a 3D application.

Edit: I've also never tried it with sound either. I don't know if this is really possible. I supposed you could do something like use Fraps and then send the recording to Live Stream, but that would use the Internet.

Distance over HDMI is quite large though...in this test they had 1080p working fine at 125 feet.

why not
1) http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=109&cp_id=10110&cs_id=1011012&p_id=8121&seq=1&format=1#largeimage

oh btw... you probably can't use this in conjunction with anything else. It likely is just a HDMI pinout to Ethernet pinout back to HDMI again.

2) otherwise.... push2tv? :S

3) I also remember bestbuy had these rocketfish wireless HDMI transmitter/receiver combo for like $100 or something

4) super super last for now would probably be those android on a usb sticks probably use the UG802 or w.e that new one is and use splashtop hd which works for at least streaming media. works over wifi fairly well sound lags only slightly video is fine so 3d apps should be ok (not sure though). Umm... don't take my word on it since I don't know if it even has splashtop yet

i'd probably prefer 1 or 4 and 3 being close behind. To test 4 just take ur android phone and try it out tongue.gif

Heh, that is actually kind of neat. I had not seen that before. Sucks that it takes two cables though. The price of the adapter and cable will still be less than a bulk roll of HDMI cable though

Thanks, the problem is im possibly only doing this once, so paying for anything, including HDMI cables is very out, and I already have the lan cables for it.

I found a program called screenstream, anyone used it before?

ahhh, a one time deal.

Well if it was just a one time deal couldn't you just move your main PC near the TV? Put your monitor and keyboard/mouse on a small table and then just setup the TV as a monitor and then duplicate the displays? I mean it is just temporary. Even if you had to just sit on the floor...just make it work.

I use HDMI extenders over UTP cable.
Max range i have is 45 meters and that is without any signal loss.
Marmitek is the brand i use.
