Paracord 550 or Mil-C-5040H Type III

everybody nows 550, but do you guys use Mil-C-5040H Type III. It's the military equivalant.

found this one when I wanted to make a order for paracord 550 but now I am in doubt rolleyes.gif

It is the same thing, but the Mil-C-5040H Type III is certified and has the correct amount and type of strands on the inside. For sleeving purposes there is no difference.

according specs, but more flexible / stronger 7*3 strands, 550 has 7*2. Only problem. I can only find three colours.

Ordered 550 samples.

when you use paracord for sleeving, you take the strands out, leaving only the "shell" of the paracord, so the quality of the strands / amount of strands is quite irrelevant. the only difference for you, as a sleever, is that the mil-c stuff is more expensive (and, having used both for their real purpose, 550 cord is just as coord as mil-c).

thanks, yes still need to start building and sleeving. ( parts are "dripping" in very slow.......
could not find to much coulours of this mil paracord anyhow.

Now looking at MDPC for sleeve.........looks good biggrin.gif

MDPC is definately better for most jobs in terms of durability and looks (imo), paracord is just a LOT cheaper, so it's a little more beginner friendly. Also, most craft stores carry paracord, so for around $2 you can get quite a bit and be able to practice with it.
