Sounds to me like MS is taking more cues from Apple's app store. A restricted walled garden.

Steam is great, but the average consumer isn't going to look much further than an app store built into the OS. Microsoft knows this, and is going to capitalize on it. It has benefits for some consumers, but more downsides IMO.

Could this be to still promote all the triple A titles to be purchased on the XBOX?(all Big triple A tittles seems to M rated and are the core audience for the XBOX). It just seems they are conflicted, they want the revenue from windows users but they also don't want any potential revenue lost that could be potentially be made on the XBOX?
