Okay, lets walk through this slowly...Apple allows you to install 3rd party packages, but only after you enable it in a menu; MS wants to be like Apple. Most people have no idea that they can use those other options either. I'm not saying they'll do it, but to act like it's not a possibility is just as foolish as acting like it's happening tomorrow.

If MS does the whole have to activate an option in a menu thing like OS X and Android, Steam, Origin, etc will all lose marketshare no matter what..See why people are concerned about it? It's exactly like IE, unless you shove the option in their faces most people have no clue that there's alternatives.

So what. I'm getting Windows 8 and it never crossed my mind to get any of my pc games through their app store. If any of the good modern pc games where even there wouldn't they have to run on RT also. So I don't think it was ever their wish to have Borderlands 2 in the app store, because none of the RT tablets would be able to play it.

Great to see the closed Microsoft OS off to a great start. Sure, this stuff won't be mandatory on the desktop, this time, but it sure makes me want to buy a phone/tablet with their OS on it, seeing as they will "protect" me from all that awful "mature content" out there.

Ha ha ha, I don't mean to laugh but do you honestly believe Microsoft has made this decision because it wants to "coexist" with Steam and other such services? Heck no! Microsoft wants to be those services, they want that digital distribution money and they own the platform to sell it on.

If they were REALLY interested in "coexisting" as you put it they would open up their OS (yes, it is completely closed on ALL the mobile products) to Steam and other players, so that people running mobile Windows 8 devices could buy from the e-tailer they want to and buy the products they want to.

This means NO "PEGI 18/mature content" AT ALL on your Windows 8 Smart Phone or Tablet. If people lap this up I guarantee you Microsoft will move to further close off the desktop and laptop side.

In any case they appear to be bungling this so badly that it is going to be Windows 8: DOA, coming to a store near you this holiday season.
