Is this all I need?

Thread Starter
Hey all, SgtGates here,

Starting to tip my toes into custom loop water cooling im running an antec 620 right now.
Is everything here all I need for a complete system. Basically its the ex 240 raystorm kit with an additional 120 rad added in. For the extra 120 rad I assumed that the xspc compression fitting would match since I choose "black compression" in the kit option.

Questions...
1. I'm just going to use distilled water until I install the next AMD CPU after its release, that ok?
2. Will I need more tubing or will the kit come with enough extra to add the 120 mm rad?
3. I need someone to help me with a flow diagram about where I should locate and flow directions for the water...I'm using a Cooler Master Storm Trooper, the ex240 will go on top then the extra 120 rad in the top rear.

-I know the single ex240 is enough for the CPU. However I would like to add the other 120rad into the loop because some day ill get a water block for gpu that way I wont need another Rad...

Here's what I have so far

Your shopping cart won't show up for other people, unfortunately. You would have to link us the individual parts, or if it's the kit, the link to the kit.
If you're making your own loop, and it's just for the cpu, make sure you have the following:
  1. cpu block
  2. radiator
  3. tubing of appropriate length
  4. reservoir, or be ready to make a t-line
  5. fittings
  6. pump
If it's a premade kit from xspc, just make sure it has all of these components in it, and you'll be good. IIRC, the raystorm kits come with everything you need, but make sure.

YW, always excited to see someone go underwater Snorkle.gif
It makes me do this:

wheee.gifwheee.gifwheee.gif

Anyways, that looks like everything you need. The raystorm kit has literally everything that you need to get going, and since you want another rad, you have included the extra fittings you need as well. You might want to grab a couple extra feet of tubing in case you mess up, 6.5 feet should be enough, but I like to play it safe.

Also, imho, you don't need that extra rad at all. that 240 will be way more than enough for your processor with a hefty OC. It would save you a little bit a cash, anyways, and you won't likely notice a difference including the other rad in a cpu only setup. Might be worth it eventually if you decide to add a vga waterblock, but now, I'd say hold onto your scratch brother.

Thanks for the advice ill decide when it comes purchasing time ;p

What size tubing should I run, Id like something bigger for water volume and looks but not something to big to bend easily and be too bulky.
Was thinking 1/2" by 3/4"? what do you think, Ive never seen any of the different sizes in person so I cant tell haha

I use 1/2"x3/4", and it's fine for the most part. There's really not much noticeable difference in size between 1/2"x3/4" and 3/8"x5/8", and you're not like to notice a difference in the cooling. Obviously the latter is thinner, but I couldn't see a visible difference when I switched. It's pretty much all just tubing. Only real difference comes down to really small tubing, but IIRC it still doesn't affect cooling very much.

Agreed, great seller. I also like Sidewinder. Only problem is usually their shipping prices are way too high, at least in my own experience, so that it ends up negating a lot of the savings.
