Help with getting started overclocking

Thread Starter
I am in need of some help. First the system. Asus p5n32 SE deluxe system board. Conroe E 6600 CPU. EVGA 7950GT 512 MB. Memory 2GB OCZ DDR2. 600 watt P/S. Heatsink and fan Thermaltake Big Typhoon. I realize now that the system board was most likely not the best for overclocking and after cheecking found out that I can not return it for another board. Can anyone give me some hints as to Overclock this system.

Many Thanks

You guys and gals are great

Neil

you can still OC with this board... it just wont be the tops... start in the bios... look around get comfortable locate the FSB, HTT, vcore, vdimm, etc, then bump your FSB by the smalllest increment. Then boot up! that's your first OC!

Edit: Those guids are helpfull, and if you have questions, NEVER hesitate to ask. Also, system specs will help drastically

Thanks to all.

Here is what I have so far:

Target memory 804 MHZ
FSB Clock 1250
Memory Clock 800
PCI Freq 100.0
Memory timings Set to Auto
Ratio actual value 9
CPU Core volt auto 1.26v

Running stable so far at 2812 MHZ.

Will playing any with the memory timings or CPU core voltage help any here and do you know their max values??

I would like to see 3.0 GHZ if possible but do not know if that is possible with this system board.

Thanks again

Neil

again fill in your system specs, and this will help a little, keep your ram speed at half of your fsb, it is the best ratio, also is it an nforce chipset, if so dont expect any more that 60-70 mhz, i can only get 60 out of mine but fill in those specs and keep askin, we wil keep answering

The Chipset is Nvidia. Do you happen to know what the max temp and core voltage for the 6600 are.

Thanks you people are great.
