I might as well throw this here - I asked on several forums, even Nvidias, and never gotten as much as a GUESS as to why this happens.

As already stated in this thread, my GPU-order on this board is mixed up - I can confirm that this have happened to at least two other people with this board, and a Google search came up with a VAGUE sign that a handful of other users, with ASUS and GIGABYTE boards have this happening.

This happens with 3 or 4 GPUs (Have NOT tried it with 2).

This carries over with a fresh OS install (I gone from Windows 7 to 8 more than 20 times, at all times is the situation the same).

This happens with and without SLI board / SLI activated.

Basically my GPU-order is completely wrong.

From TOP to BOTTOM (When looking at the PCI-E slots - TOP being the one closest to the CPU):

GPU 3

GPU 1

GPU 2

GPU 4

This GPU-order is being reported by both MSI afterburner, eVGA PrecisionX, Nvidia Control Panel and GPU-Z (And most likely all other programs I can throw at it to show GPU-order).

I *DONT THINK* this created any diminishing effect on the cards - It just bothers me that I have the Monitor plugged into GPU 3 in a 4-Way SLI-SETUP - When i seen it plugged into GPU 1 in 99.9 % of all setups like that.

I did read somewhere that its normal but cant remember on which forums on my ipad atm having hard time finding the post I saw about the GPU order.
I have done 3 way and 4 way on this board and have gotten the same thing Gomi.

I am sure it's just how the PCI-E lanes are read when using more then one. Could even be the PLX chips saying "if X lanes are used, read in X order".

What about doing Three runs of a benchmark on each card you have your Monitors plugged into. Then you can see if it makes any difference.

Good idea - Will try the Benchmark "trick" and see what it tells me.

I am 99.9 % sure there is no problem though - Got a good score in 3DMark11 (29XXX) so there is clearly nothing bad about the order - just made me ponder smile.gif

See if the order will change how much each GPU is loaded, i think GPu1 is loaded the most

Nope, GPU3 (The one also reported to be the one with the monitor (When running single monitor mode) is the one with the lost load. GPU3 is the TOP GPU when looking "into" the system (The one closest to the CPU).

This is the GPU order - From TOP to BOTTOM - Tested with a SINGLE monitor:

When SINGLE MONITOR is plugged into GPU3:

When SINGLE MONITOR is plugged into GPU4:

When SINGLE MONITOR is plugged into GPU2:

When SINGLE MONITOR is plugged into GPU1:

As you can see, I cannot even select 4-way SLI with GPU1 and GPU4 (Only 3-way SLI) - Only with GPU2 and GPU3 can 4-way SLI be selected.

Again, this is all just observations - No idea if this makes SLI profiles dodgy or whatever - Only been benching, not gaming.

"Solved" - Testing will show if this have an impact on benches and games.

Trick, if you can even call it that, was to plug the monitor (Single) into the BOTTOM card and REVERSE the SLI bridge.

I been so caught up in ALL OTHER motherboard having their GPUs listed as

1

2

3

4

that I did not even see it comming that a motherboard could come with it reverse.

With the monitor plugged into the BOTTOM PCI-E GPU - SLI BRIDGE reversed:

Now officially GPU1 with 4-way SLI enabled.
