Anytime smile.gif

Surprised me that it was so "Simple" and that the UP7 actually have the GPU order "reversed" (Bottom to top).

Absolutely no performance hit by the way - Tested 3DMark11, Valley, Heaven, ARMA 3, Battlefield 3 etc. and it all looks the same.

Just makes it easier for my nitpick brain to wrap around wink.gif

Now if only Nvidia would hurry up and actually release a pair of drivers that are stable and bring in optimizing for the newest benches and games. Valley GPU utilization is HORRIBLE (50-65%) - And I *KNOW* it aint a CPU bottleneck (Be-Jebus I hate that term, it seems like everyone and their mom just point at "CPU BOTTLENECKZ LULZ!" when usage seems low).

Hi all,

I have just built a new rig and I am wanting to start overclocking with my Z77X-UP7.

My previous board was a Gigabyte EP45-DQ6 and so the step up in BIOS options is massive, and I am very very confused and I don't understand what everything does.

Can anyone give me any tips on where to start, or any links to guides here or online on how to setup the BIOS best for overclocking? There are so many options and I don't want to mess around with things that I do not understand what the consequences may be or what they are actually impacting on.

I thought about using Gigabyte EasyTune 6, but that's just lame and ideally I want to understand the BIOS and set things myself and understand what each change will do.

If anyone can help I'd be really grateful.

Regards
Jp

This board is very stable on overclocking but it 3 out of 5 will not boot on cold boot but will boot ok on reboot after cold boot - if you overclock very high. It will be stable on a warm boot.

So I give up and left things what they are designed for. My i7 3770k I left in default it will turbo boot to 3.9 Ghz anyway. Ram 2400 set to profile 1 leaving turbo as default no extreme. This bard is great auto voltage changes. It will voltage for everything properly itself. I used to have Asus board and always have to set myself voltages for my cpu and memory.

So my advise you can play with overclocking like we all do since this board is designed for. But if do want to have almost 100% no problems leave in default, except memory set its own profile so your memory runs what its max designed for.

I love this board smile.gif have fun!

I have cold boot issues with this board at all.

Just out of curiosity, what is your native laungue, because I am having a hard time understanding you?

There are a lot of good guides on here. I am sure Sin has one linked in his sig (I will look later).
Just ask one or two questions at a time and don't be overwhelmed. Write down all your changes incase you have to clear teh CMOS and so you can tell what settings work or what ones get increasingly worse.

Hi NoGuru thanks for the tips. I overclocked my old MB with no difficulty, it's just most of the new options that I don't understand. Taking it slow is the way to go like you say!

Does anyone know if the MB allows wake from shutdown state (s5)? I have it waking from sleep remotely, but I can't seem to get it working from shutdown.

If it does support this, do I need to set up anything specific in the BIOS or for the LAN controllers?

If I will tell you my native language, will it help you in anyways? You should get my point. Cold boot issues is not a big deal and I only experience it sometimes in Windows 8 x 64 only.

I think it does, but I cannot say for sure. Sin has an Ivy OC guide but I can't find it for some reason.
I would disable all the power saving features to start and just change the multi and Vcore, then you can move on and fine tune and clock RAM if you want.

No it probably wouldn't help me, but I wanted to let others know why some of your sentences seem, a little off and that you are trying to translate. wink.gif
