ok, so before my on ancient 6 year old router that craped out on me, my wifi speeds/bandwith and my gaming speeds were ok, but they werernt utalizing my internet connection to its fullest, see details of such senario here:

results of my upgrade are also on there.
now, my speeds are amazing, however, when i am playing multiplayer, i am lagging like crap, i unplug the router, and plug my pc directly into my modem, and the issue goes away,
now i dont know alot about networking, but i am assuming it has something to do with ports?
the router i bought is this:
http://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/d-link-router-dir-615/106692?collectionName=Featured+Item&fromCollectionPage=false
i know that there are ip pages you can go into and stuff but i dont know any of that for this router (i am sure i can figure it out) and i dont know how/what ports to open, or if that is the problem at all.
thanks
