So I'm currently living at home with my parents again temporarily as I look for permanent employment now that I've (basically) finished up my master's degree. The unideal computer setup that I'm forced to have here has made me start planning on the most ideal desk I could possibly build myself, so I've started designing it and modified it multiple times. I'm fairly happy with where I've gotten it at this point, so I'm finally ready to share it with others and see what others think and maybe get some input on aspects of it.
Sketchup link:
This album has sort of how my setup was at my old apartment.
The desk is sort of designed to mimic that general setup but go even further with it.
As some more info:
I intend to build the desk as 3 stand alone sections that will fasten together in place, but be able to separate for moving etc.
The left portion has bays for 4 computers, then 2 shelves above those bays for modem, router, KVM, and anything else relevant. Also, I intend on using the computer bay on the far right for power organization. I will send all of the power cables there and manage it within there.
The top of the left portion will be where I have some of my audio equipment and headphone stands. The shelves in the back left are for my DAC, Solid State amp, and Tube amp on top.
The right section is sort of unfinished as of now. I intend to have the bookshelf on the back side as is currently there. I was planning for drawers on the end of this section, but I'm not 100% sure if I'll need/want them. The majority of that desk is actually intended for work space, and I have nothing in particular planned for on top.
So, with that, any questions/comments/suggestions? Hopefully my descriptions were clear enough.
Victor
Edit: Here's a new version after a few more tweaks. I added some cross-pieces on the top shelf for added stability. I removed the opening for a bank of drawers I had and extended the bookshelf on the back side, added another shelf to the shelf.
