The reason I never buy retail is this. All the sites I shop at Free shipping & no tax. I will never buy retail

The real problem is that they have 'Best Buy exclusives'. For example, you might be looking at a laptop that is $699.00 on Amazon. Best Buy might have the same laptop but it has 6GB of RAM instead of 8GB and call it a 'Best Buy Exclusive'. Then they charge you $749.00 for it and refuse to price match a higher spec'd, cheaper laptop based on the fact that the Amazon one is a different sku. While technically true, the practice is asinine. Why on earth would I pay more for a computer that has lesser specs just because it is a 'Best Buy Exclusive'? Not to mention the fact that what seems to be every damn laptop in Best Buy (in Canada, at least) has one of those damn bilingual keyboards. Instant deal-breaker no matter the price difference.
Those are the reasons that Best Buy will always be a showroom for me.

This has been any price matching in my experience...Like Sears will brag about it on their appliances, but when you compare model numbers you will see that the models are only sold at Sears. Plus they have their own brand that only they sell.

My LCS wouldn't price match an OEM version of Windows 7 once because the one I was trying to price match to was SP1 and the copy that they had wasn't.

Like you say, a lot of B&M stores say the same things. That's why people buy the exact product they want, at the lowest price they can find. Usually that happens to be online. Tough for B&M. Or tough for online retailers, as the case may be.

If Best Buy can start competing more with online pricing I'd definitely spend more of my money there. Best Buy is one of the best concerning return policies and as a Premier Silver member that return policy is 45 days instead of the normal 30. I also get free expedited shipping on most everything online and the 5% cashback through Discover makes up for the tax charged.

I think I said this before but BestBuy has no reason sell appliances, movies and music. These stores could be made a lot smaller with less overhead, and focus strictly on gadgets. I have never known ANYONE to buy a refrigerator or oven from BestBuy.

When I was a student in USA between 2000-2005 I used to LOVE Bestbuy and visiting their stores.

Then they opeend a store here in Turkey only to close it less than 12 months later.

Than I went back to USA for the first time since 2005, this July. Visited BestBuy near Times Square and it was a total dissapointment.

I personally saw first hand that Best Buy's quality and prices were ridicilous. They did not have many things I was looking for which I would be sure they would have.

I stopped buying from best buy because the ones in my state refuse to carry quality models of anything. From headphones to monitors they sell nothing i would buy at this point except maybe tvs on clearance.

I still wouldn't use BestBuy for anything over $100 because they can't compete against no sales tax. If I was buying a $600+ TV and get get it via Amazon Prime, of course I'm going to use BestBuy as a showroom and order it through Amazon. The $50 or so I'd save in tax is well worth the 2 day wait.

Are other retailers such as Best Buy declined as bad as best buy?

Amazon really hammered the market over there that's for sure. Online retailers have incredible advantage.
