5770 should do nicely, they're less than $100 on ebay and theres plenty to buy.

Yes, these little cards are beast. They are quiet and consume very little power. If it was me, I would take this card.

Dont throw away that GTX 8800. you should bake it first.

I built a simple rig for my little sisters for school work, internet browsing and what not, they also play The Sims 3. I can tell you that a GTX 460 paired with a Pentium G630 (dual core) can max out The Sims 3 @ 1920x1080 no problem. I snatched the 460 used for 80 bucks locally, its a good folder as well smile.gif

My daughter's 6750m in her iMac does Sims 3 just fine (although she no longer plays it). Struggles a bit on Guild Wars 2 in medium, mind you. rolleyes.gif

Though personally your better off getting a card built on the 28nm process, cause if your just going to be browsing the web most of them time your better off using a card that uses vary little power at idle.
Though depending on what dual core you have, any of these newer videocards will be bottlenecked by your CPU so really your better off going by TDP then potential performance.

Well the post just says cheap... my opinion of cheap is not $100. Especially when you can get the job done 100% for much less. The power consumption isn't great but the one I put in my brother's machine is running fine on the factory power supply. Ancient HP tower.

Of course more is always better, if spending 100$ I would opt for a 550ti or 7770 depending on personal preference as either will be total overkill for Sims.
