Have you seen the Aerocool StrikeX-Air @ Xoxide.com!?

What are your thoughts on Open Cases, you know, tech cases, work boxes.. that sort of thing. I have used a few homemade work boxes, but I have never purchased an Open case. I kept lookin at the Antec Mini Skeleton-90 Open-Air, and I'm on the fence, well, what we just got in stock might change my mind.

I think that this is one of the coolest looking open case I have ever seen. The new Strike-X Air is a brand new PC open case concept fully developed by the Aerocool design team.

For those who spend a lot of time installing and uninstalling computer parts, this is a dream come true case that requires no more fastening and unfastening of screws to open or close side panels and everything is within an arm's reach and no more cluttering of cables.

For those who look for a cutting edge PC case, look no further, this is the one and only case of its kind that would most definitely be the center of the stage of everything!

For those who care a great deal about the heat dissipation, the openness of its design nature dissipates heat without the space confinement of a conventional PC case, plus, a 20cm fan is installed directly at the top of the Motherboard of CPU cooler which will not give any chance at all for any tiny amount of heat to circulate within.

So what do you guys think? Is it cool enough to be in your arsenal of cases? Do you like Open Chassis? Got any ideas to make this even better?

As a matter of fact, I love open cases. There are inherit problems with them though. They do get dusty just a bit quicker. And the noise level is generally a bit higher then conventional cases. (even though most have just a thin piece of metal between you and hardware, it still helps)
That said, my biggest problem with the 2 cases you linked to is that lack of room for mounting a taller air cooler. I know for sure the Antec case will not fit most tower coolers, I'm unsure about the Aerocool one, but it seems like space it tight there also.
For reference, this is my current PC: http://s99.photobucket.com/albums/l317/karmakiller81/Tech%20Bench%20Build/
(see the dust issue I mentioned?) xD

As far as ideas to make open air cases better, I have a few.
1. leave room for larger tower coolers (as mentioned above)
2. Hot swap bays for the HDD would be a killer option I've never seen on chassis like these.
3. Have mounting options for radiators
4. Have more then 3 HDD bays. (or have a method of converting 5.25 bays over to 3.5 or 2.5 openings)
5. Leave the top uncovered! Have fans on the side of the case rather then over the top.

That's all I can think of at the moment. smile.gif

#1 I can totally get that and I see the potential
#2 ****! Why didn't they think of that.... Seriously, it just makes sense if your making a pull apart build, etc.
#3 That is a thing Im not to keen on, I'd want to have it mounted away in its own little environment, make it look more complicated than it is.
#4 Id rather the conversions, but yes Expandability!
#5 Yea I can see how that is better if you are going to be moving hardware a lot.

Thanks for the input! I always love getting fresh looks at this stuff.

Revived!

I love the design, really thought about picking it up to transfer my AMD rig over to when I switch to intel. Would be perfect to try and hit 5 Ghz on the FX 4100. Oh, and Xoxide John, love the company man. You guys are really helpful and quick with your responses/shipping.
