They better get their heads out of their butts or Cook is going to run the company into the ground. I bet the MS fans are just eating this up!

I agree to this.
Personally I don't like Apple one bit but I respect their products. Their former version of the iPhone in this example. It has quality build written all over it but the iPhone 5? What a garbage. Steve Jobs would never let it out the door in its current condition. Its all about quality and style with the iPhone and the 5 has neither.

iphone 5 is just as large of an improvement over 4s as 4s was over the 4. it's just that cook isn't quite the salesman jobs was. not enough reality distortion.

more to the point, 10% drop is nothing. it only when you hit 30-40% that people should panic.

you guys can hate.on apple all day you want but let me tell you this

As an enthusiast, I've owned a lot of super phones over the past few years and ever manufacturer has its own fare share of issues but people.seem to be a lot more.ignorant and critical towards apple

Lets all look at facts shall we

How many have you owned an galaxy s here? Although the specs and stuff looks great on paper, things like build.quality(plastic that smudge like hell) battery lite (bad beyond belief imo) and lack of ota update has lots of.things.left.to be desired

Then comes the Motorola atrix, one of the longest battery life android has to offer at its time, but its camera, tn display and lack of updates has a lot left to be desired

Then galaxy sii the phone.was extremely over hyped but the abysmal dac, buggy ota update(GPS accuracy, broken notification light and the most unforgivable of all, gb runs faster than ice and has a lot more battery life)

Then comes.droid razr. Almost everything is perfect on the phone except that it has poor battery life on 4g and lack of ics for.a long time. Then Motorola promised to unlock the bootloader in which they never did and burn all the early adopters by bringing out droid razr maxx literally just a few weeks later.

Then comes the galaxy s III. Touted by a lot of people as the best phone.on the face of the earth. The us version has design defect in which you could hear hissing/static noise on the headphone jack. It also has less than desirable build quality(all plastic) and extremely.fragile.display that cost an arm and leg to repair. The super amoled is not as good as competition due to pentile display and oversaturated colors

I am currently using an HTC EVO 4G LTE and I would argue it is the best android for the following reasons. Amazing display(312 ppi and not pentile.crap, though it still suffer from saturation issue), great battery life, great build quality(made from aluminum and is a lot more.ergonomic aka nicer in the hands compared to gs3, the only.issue is that after a while, the back anodized aluminum suffer from scratches. Mine has tons already). Better still photos than gs3(though gs3 has the upper hand in videorecording) the only con I can think out of it is its not a global phone, mediocre dac and speakers. Occasionally freeze of HTC sense and still no jelly bean.

Despite what a lot of people would say, in my personal opinion, iPhone 4s is /was still the best overall phone especially if you could live with the tiny screen.(until iPhone.5 fixed the build quality issues) the cirrus logics dac on it is quite good and the speaker is a lot better than current android( the phone that would come.close would.be the droid razr) it also has amazing camera, build.quality, performance(the gpu on it still hold its ground to this date vs latest androids) the os is extremely efficient(you could run programs that won't suck tons.of battery life) and very responsive and buttery smooth especially.the browser) in fact if you try to use an iPhone 4 which has 800mhz.single core cortex a8, its amazing that it is almost as responsive as a dual core would be)

The proof that the ios is very efficient is the fact that it has a small battery 1420mw and still manage to outshine phones that has bigger battery

The apps are better than android(eBay, twitchtv, YouTube, my package, ebuddy, etc...)

And there are these people that would argue that android is the better os but let me tell you this, unless you are using the latest android phone, there is a very small chance it would get future updates(unless if it is nexus)

Custom.roms are also ovverrated. The. Moment you install one, you are literary a beta tester, it.would.be either something is not working properly or worst case just crash on you. The ports are also meh. Since it is not officially supported, it means it lacks proper drivers which means things.like camera would have worse quality, features such as hardware acceleration would also be.gone.in favor.of.software rendering due to driver incompatibility that's why custom.roms.eats more battery life than.stock.

And the sad thing is that people just blindly hate...

The iPhone 5 was only pre-orderable for minutes before they were sold out and total pre-orders topped two million in 24 hours. They don't give products a long time to accumulate big numbers before release, it's not how they work. Regardless, 20 million in 100 days is a fraction of Apples 5 million (probably double that due to pre-orders, which weren't included) in a mere 3 days.
Comparing like for like, it's 11 million in 100 days vs 5 million in 3 days. Samsung can only ever wish for sales numbers like that.

Im curious about 2 things.

1) Has steelbom injected you or given you anything to drink lately

2) in what reality for you is 5 million > 9 million.

You have to realize (or maybe you, like many consumers are unaware) That samsung is actually a producer of things #1 and #2 they are actually bigger than apple. They employ more people and generate more revenue.
Quote:
The company’s sales hit $42.2 billion in the second quarter this year, topping rival Apple (AAPL) by a healthy margin, and its profit of $4.6 billion was up nearly 50% year-over-year. So how does Samsung do it? While companies like Apple use a somewhat narrow focus to their advantage, Samsung takes a different approach: Sell everything.

I suggest you apple fans get ready because when the iphone fad is over and there is some REAL competition in the tablet market (not this android crap) you're company is going to come crashing down. If these two products waiver AT ALL your company could take a massive loss in value. Samsung? They have about 5000000 products. They have as many products as apple sold iphones in the first 3 days. Its not going to be a problem they can soak it.

iPhones' cases have always sucked - if someone needs to put their phone that is already in a case, in a 3rd party case to keep it protected, then the phone's own case isn't good. My Game Boy Color from 1998 is safe in its own case.

I've said it before. This is simply a result of the unusually high growth of Apple's valuation in the past 2 years. Investors built it up with some good expectations, and with the daily news hyping Apple's market cap to the unknowing general public resulted in a steep growth. Journalism is a dangerous thing, it sells the news to a public that, for the most part, doesn't know what to do with the information.

The recent uproar over the problems with iOS6 and the iPhone 5 are also probably overblown thanks to sensationalist news. Anyway, people are looking down on MS but I think once they enter the market people are going to start losing interest in Apple.

You brand loyalty people are just absolutely ridiculous.

5 million is better than 9 million when you sell that amount in 3% of the time it took to sell 80% more units. If you're going to have any form of argument here, try and actually read or understand the issues.

They're bigger than Apple? Congratulations, I never said they weren't. However they will never make a smartphone which will have a first weekend sales rate like the iPhone 5 did. That's what I said, I don't care about their other divisions. As far as I knew we were talking about smartphones, not washing machines and refrigerators.

So somehow I don't think they're trying to treat their customers badly. You saw what they done to Foxconn and sparked them to strike after asking them to have better quality control. That doesn't seem like they're treating future buyers of those phones like "scum".
I think their responses to that other stuff were in line. You point a camera at a bright light, expect it to screw up.

But if I read Pyro's post correctly, Samsung had 11 million preorders whereas Apple had 5 million? Therefore, Samsung sold more and faster?

Also, regarding the "refund no questions asked" comment. No way. Sorry, but that is a figment of your imagination. No company just refunds you without a really, really good reason (that they can't talk their way out of).

Case in point:

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-57531177-37/forget-iphone-purple-haze-now-theres-the-green-glow/
Quote:
Users on the forum have noted that Apple will replace iPhone 5 units that show the problem, although some have been turned away because they couldn't consistently replicate the glow.

Some users not given this instant refund/replacement you spoke of. Also, $30 bumper they sold to people having the antenna issue. Yeah, great customer service. The fact they relented and started refunding and giving them away for free means nothing when they actually told people to pay for them in the first place.

Apple are not this generous awesome company that gives stuff away. They didn't make $100bn by giving stuff away.
