Bored and depressed with gaming....

Hey guys I've just been feeling down lately with video games. My first child was just born a little over a week ago and now since I can't work out at the gym or leave the house much I've decided to start doing heavy gaming on my week off. Well its the last day of my vacation and I didn't do much gaming at all.

I managed to grind through D3 and finish it on inferno, played borderlands 2 couldn't get into it and I looooved the first one, and every time I try to sit down to play a ps3 or 360 game I'm just not interested. I've also thought about using my ps vita more but I can't see myself spending 40 bucks on a bad vita game or 10 dollars on a ps1 classic that I already own.

I've got a ton of pc games I really want to start playing again but every time I sit down at my computer I just kinda stare at it and wonder what to do now?
DO I get a scroll of res and pick up Mop?
try finishing the witcher 2?
play battlefield, skyrim, shogun 2, space marine or any of the other dozen pc games I never finished?

Since I sent back borderlands 2 to gamefly I'm expecting to get resident evil 6 next but I doubt i'll get very far in it.

The only thing I seem to find myself playing is that stupid free to play command and conquer game from origin and that last about 10 minutes every time I sit down at the pc

so am I just tired of gaming or am I suffering from the baby blues cause of the newborn? Any suggestions on what to do? I don't really feel like spending any more money on games because I feel like I'll just waste it and not enjoy i anymore.

Thanks to anybody who read this!

I also seem to be at this point in my life, so just know you arent the only one! lol In fact the only time I really play games anymore is when my friends are online. I use it more as a way to catch up with friends than to actually play a game hardcore. But I thinking having a kid has a lot to do with it. So since you are bored with gaming, spend all the time you can helping out the wife with the kid! It will keep you busy, and I know she will be grateful. Sometimes you just need a break from gaming, but I am sure that in a few months you will find the urge to start playing some more games!! Best of luck, and congrats on the newborn! thumb.gif

thank you! The thing about it is that it's nice to just keep him next to me while he sleeps(and his mother gets to sleep too) and i have the freedom to just sit back relax and enjoy. I just haven't found myself able to do that mostly cause I can "get into" the game. I even got to play diablo where i just point and click while i fed him lol.

Its hard to be bored when I have so many games to play i'm just not interested in them anymore. Except xcom I reallly want that but I doubt it will keep me interested long enough to justify spending 50 dollars!

maybe I just need to take a break, watch more movies or something, since I'll be back to work full time I probably want to game even more and find something I really enjoy playing!

Yeah exactly, in fact when I get bored with games (happens a few months out of the year) I decide to learn something new. My latest thing is I am giving Linux my full attention for a whole month in order to learn how it works and see how I feel about it after using nothing but Linux for a month. The time before that I spent my time learning the guitar... I am by no means good at everything I try to learn, but its good to get experienced in a lot of different things. I almost think its a good thing I lost interest in games every few months... lol biggrin.gif

Well I guess since I've already been playing the guitar for years, and i have no reason to learn linux maybe there is something else i could learn how to do. That does sound like a pretty good idea actually. Also I need to get on the ball looking for another job too I suppose I could do that while I sit my ass in my comfy computer chair!

Yap, i just turn on my pc and stare at the game icons on my desktop for a while before putting up a song or movie in the background and then I stare some more.
Going from icon to icon trying to get myself to play something, anything. But nothing seems worth spending hours on.

I used to play MW3 multiplayer a lot, but it seems that every game I log on has some cheater/hacker and I end up returning to my desktop & stare until its time for bed.

I can't stand play-through games, games like borderlands... and like almost everything you mentioned.. cause you just play and beat it.. and shelf it.

I enjoy strat games like Civilization 5 because of the challenge, and no 2 games are the same.

If you can no longer play a FPS like BF3, and aren't interested in RTS's (Sim City's on the horizon, that'll be fun) then sure, you may soon be a retired gamer.

Actually shogun 2 kept me interested for quite a while earlier this morning untill I got screwed and then gave up on the whole campaign. Also I like the Dawn of war series might buy retribution if i can find it under 5 bucks. And I'm really excited to try out xcom like I mentioned. also just updated star craft 2 , the problem with the majority of those games is that the single player is usually kinda meh and the multiplayer is usually filled with too man people waaaay to skilled for my casual gaming abilities!
