I hope you weren't into multiplayer cause that's out the window, anything that can't be paused is done for. Didn't effect me since I rarely partake in multiplayer. Revel in your kids development which is far more rewarding anyway, besides it gets hard to game later on when you have a kid crawling into your lap trying to grab your mouse and press the keys on your keyboard, or turning off the pc from the power switch.

Since the birth of my son (13 months ago) experienced the same feelings as the TS, lol.
I'm fairly certain it has sometinhg to do with a mental feeling of responsibility and knowing
gaming and such are not that important in life as you would think when you are young with
not that much responsibility ;-)

I was never bored or depressed with gaming after my son was born, I just simply really didn't have any time for it. For awhile my wife and I each took opposing 12 hr shifts so we could each get some decent rest. I have noticed many members on this site seem to get bored every now and then with gaming. I on the other hand never have. And I'm not young either, been gaming since coleco vision and I'm 33 now. Anyway, learn how to edit photos and video in the meantime, you'll be so glad you did. And when you do get back into gaming your games will last much longer than before since its next to impossible to play for extended periods when you're a parent

Yeah, games bore me now. When I played I always felt like I just wasted time that I could have been doing something productive. I venture in and out of linux, but mostly spend time learning about security now. In fact I started my BS in Information Security even though I have no plans on working in IT, I just want to learn and have something to show for it other then XP points.

Anyway, if your bored, try some other things, you may feel like playing later, or maybe you'll discover a new hobby. I do this with playing guitar, I'll not touch it for months and then spend a couple weeks playing and then leave alone for months again, I just learned to not even worry about it and just play when I get joy out of it.

The best benefit of not being a gamer anymore for me is I have so much more money for other things now and not always worry about funding my next build (I do admit, I miss dreaming about my next builds!)

I'm also 22 (will be 23 soon), and I agree i think its my personality progressing. Sitting down to devote hours to a game in just not in my nature especially when I'm changing diapers and feeding the kid every couple hours. I love gaming i just hope it doesn't turn into just an "unwinding" activity, but with spending time with the old lady and raising the baby and working full time video gaming just isn't going to fit anymore.

On the plus side atleast i'm not going out to the bars and blowing hundreds of dollars a week on booze anymore. I know that sooner or later I'll really find a game that I can get into and that will get me back in the mood to start gaming again hardcore

YES also this, i've found my girl constantly asking me to stop for a second to do something, when playing online that doesn't work even before the baby was born and I was playing wow for a bit she would say matt come here do this or do that and when she was pregnant "I'm busy" doesn't fly lol

I wouldn't say its "nagging" but its the fact that I clearly do have some more important responsibilites then sittin on my butt all day on my pc chair or in front of the ps3/xbox. I guess in a way I almost feel guilty about it.... I can't really tell if its the lack of interest in gaming or its the lack of interest in the games I have. One things for sure is I still have a pile of games I've barely touched!

My son is sitting in the kitchen right now playing with a book and his shoes, he took a late nap unfortunately. But gaming is out of the question right now, hell, it still takes almost three times as long to watch a 30 minute show as it normally should sometimes. But it's all worth it when you're a parent, even the tedious parts. So don't worry, you'll once love gaming again, just at a different time in your life. And right now is the easy part, when they're stationary. When your kid starts moving on his/her own it gets much much more difficult, hell sometimes it's hard fopr me to even get a post on this site depoending on what my son wants to do. And yes, the kids always win.
