AWWWWWWW YEAAAAAAAAA!!!!! New machine :D

Ok,

So I was going to get a whole new machine but then I figured out that I will probably struggle to afford what I really want. So I figured I'd take a look at ebay, get something that's passable for a reasonable price and then go through and do my upgrades. Well, I got the following for a mere £500, AWWWWW YEAAAAA

Motherboard - Asus Sabretooth P67 (Not great I know but it's an alright motherboard to start with)
processor - i5 2500k
GPU - XFX 6970
Monitor - 23.6" HD display
8GB of memory
2x 500gb Samsung F3
1x 750GB WD blue
Logitech G15 keyboard
Logitech G500 mouse
Corsair HS1 headset
Antec 902 V3 case
CM V8 HSF (not sure how good this is)

I asked about the PSU but he wasn't sure, he things it's a 500w PSU or something so this might need to be replaced with something that's a bit more reliable. Either way I'll be picking it up next friday, I can't wait biggrin.gif

He said that he's got a few other bits as well, in all honesty though I've got a box full of stuff upstairs, i'm planning on getting a pump and bits so I can throw this under water.... I won't bother with the motherboard since it's not that great, I really wanted a z68 board but hey, I think this is a pretty sweet deal.

All in all, the parts I estimate would have cost in the region of around £1200 if I wanted to buy them all new, and I can go and sort out the bits that need replacing over the next few months so I get a machine that I really can be proud of.

Incidently how do the 6970's xfire? Do you get a decent amount of performance increase in xfire?

Cheers

Comps

What is the motherboard and GPU like? Are they sort of mid range or are they pretty ok?

I'm looking to max out things like borderlands 2, WoW and a few other games, I'm not going to mess with physx on borderlands since there are a few issues with it apparently. Also portal 2 I want to max out and a few other steam games.

I would be pleased with that setup. The Sabretooth is a mid-high board. I've personally had great luck with XFX GPUs.

Great for that price. But that's a £800 or so rig. Not a £1200 one. Correct me if I'm wrong though smile.gif
Mine cost me 1.4k.

Ok I should probably rephrase, it was £1200 when new. biggrin.gif

Either way it's still a pretty sweet deal, I can always break it down and sell it off in bits... Could make some money off that.
