[VC] NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 To Be Based on GK114 GPU - Page 2

so gtx780 will be only tad faster than 7970Ghz lol. tongue.gif

Don't u guys notice a pattern?
Nvidia flagship are going down in performance. and AMD is raising the bar.

480 was 15% faster than 5870.
580 was about 10% faster than 69070.
680 5% slower than 7970.
Seems 780 will be way slower than 8970.

The latter part of your point is based purely on speculation and rumours. My speculation using these rumours is that if they do use the big, full chip we could see a pretty good % increase performance wise over this gens.

Why not the GK110?? This generation came overpriced in my point of view! I'll wait to see performance/price of next cards!! rolleyes.gif

If Sea Islands is 25% faster at drawing (than southern islands), and the 780 would be 40% faster at drawing with approximately 50% more bandwidth than Kepler V1, it is suggested that Nvidia would win the next debut mostly by the memory bus being raised to 384-bit, again, and having a modest increase in compute power over AMD as well.

I reckon that Nvidia 700 will be more robust than AMD HD 8000 alone, but will consume more power.

Accordingly, at identical clocks. If Nvidia or AMD lower clocks to solve more intricate shader compute, that's a different story.

You can't really compare them by just a percentage. Overclocked the 7000 series is better than the 600 series, but only at high resolutions does that lead become very significant.

Now they only need to be decently supported cards without drivers that would make anyone puke (read: at the level of Nvidia's Control Panel) and I'd start considering them.

680 5% slower than 7970

680 is generally faster. Refer to signature reviews.

A good portion of 7970s including good clocking 7970s will have difficulty beating a good clocking 680 Lightning on any given single monitor resolution. On multiple monitor setups, Tahiti cards edge out Kepler cards.

Nvidia will probably lock the voltage control and put a high price on the card without ever dropping it. Just like the current 600 series. Their way of "price dropping" would be cutting 10% performance off the 780, cut $100 and rename it the GTX 770.
