I don't want them to fail either because that means that intel and nvidia won't have any competitors. God I don't even want to think of how much an i7 haswell chip would cost if AMD goes under.

The stock price of a company does not prove anything. You can have a very successful company and it have a very low stock rating.

If anyone decides to buy AMD then the company would lose its x86 cross-licensing agreement with Intel Corp.

not to mention they will "take is easy" because there's zero competition. meaning less innovation as well. this is sad. I hope someone buys AMD and legitimately tries to compete with intel.

I have personally been through two of these. It is never good for the employees who are let go. Hopefully most will be offered early retirement. Companies develop a lot of excess in good times. Paring back frees up future capitol to focus back on fundamentals.

It creates a much more competitive organization for the future. One that can quickly respond to market shifts.
