Running GSKill 1866 RAM at 1866 Timing

I just setup my new Biostar TA75A+ board, and got everything up and running, right now I'm messing with the BIOS getting my settings right. Right now, I have 8GB of GSkill Ripjaws X Series 1866 RAM, but the board has it timed at 1600, despite my manually setting the ram to be run at 1866. I've installed the ram in the A2 and B2 slots, and it says the intended speed is 1600...

Go off what the RAM says on it, that's what it's been rated to and should run fine at those speeds/voltages/timings specified. You may want to double check the timings.

Sometimes boards don't know what to do with the RAM so they just throw it at the chipsets default speed, 1600 in your case.

Sorry for not being clear, I've tried to manually set it to 1866, but it still runs at 1600

Hmm, yes try XMP.

Otherwise get the timings and make sure they're all right, it could just be that your board doesn't support 1866 memory too?

What do you mean by "XMP", and the board's manual says it supports 1866

Its so it loads the profile off the memory I believe, so it loads what has been programmed into it. There should be an option if your BIOS somewhere. smile.gif

XMP stands for Extreme Memory Profile. Typically you have to select and XMP profile for memory rated about 1600.

It might be an intel thing though...

When you tried manually adjusting it, did you enter all the settings listed on the ram as far as timing and voltage?

After you set the settings in Bios are you remembering to save afterward? It doesnt make sense that if you set it to 1866 and saved and restarted it would default back to 1600, unless it crashed afterward.

Do you have a link to the ram? Just curious what the specifications are.

The board is the Biostar TA75A+ (AMD F1 Socket), and I've only set the timing, the voltage seems right, but I'll try setting the timings manually...
