What is the best video editing software out there. I was using Roxio suite for videos and pictures, etc, but I never liked it and the way it takes over your pc, I refuse to put it on my new build.

Adobe After Effects for me is the best. I love using it and it's quite easy to use once you learn the interface.

I'm really looking for an all in one with photo editiing also. Couldn't figure out why my brand new build was running like a dog. Suspected Roxio but couldn't even uninstall it completely so did another fresh install:mad: I made a disk image every step of the way. Everything was fine until I reinstalled Roxio.
Had problems with this software before and when I went on their website for support, I got the WORST support team ever. They also became rude for me doubting them. Then banned me from their site. How's that for support?

Anyone try Power Director?

+rep for both of you.

Sony Vegas Pro was good. I've only used the trial for Power Director and didn't really like it. But that was an older version. I think 8 or 9. No idea about the newer one.

+1 For the Sony Suite. It doesn't have photo editing options, but the video control is great. I personally haven't used the pro version for an extended period of time, since I only used the free trial, and couldn't justify forking over a couple hundred dollars for occasional video editing. They have a cheap $90 version which is missing some of more fine grained control you'd get with the higher priced version.

For effects, its compatible with most VST plugins and they throw in a whole bunch as well depending on the version you get.

I've used it since version 8.0 and it comes with a DVD authoring program as well - Sony's own one. The older versions didn't have BD support, but the new versions have it. Best part about it is that it doesn't come with the extra bloat that Roxio comes with. It only includes Vegas and the Disc Authoring tools. No startup daemons or any of that other funky business.

My recommendation is to try the trial for the version for the one with the most attractive price.

Thanks for the great info. That's the biggest thing is way too much bloat ware for Roxio.
