[TPU] Seasonic Launches the New Lineup of the Platinum Series PSUs - Page 2

Seasonic makes quality units but there's been quite a lot problems with annoying coil whine (Corsair AX series, Antec Truepower New etc.), including my own Antec TPN 650W.

Well some of those PSU are "rebrands" but not necessarily "made" by seasonic, I was informed that Seasonic produces parts for those venders, and vender put the parts together, making there "own" PSU. I was also under the impression that the "rebranding" company's don't use all of one company's parts, and that they outsource to other company's as well.

So... are these replacing the Gold series, or adding a new price bracket above what we currently have?

And seriously Seasonic. 100% modular, gold or platinum, SFX form factor. GO!

I'd upgrade if I needed to, but my entire rig is running from a 460w

I've always been impressed by Seasonic's quality designs.

That might be true, but the core components (the parts that really matter) remain the same.

The same is true of virtually every other manufacturing industry. However, it's also true that the folks who make the parts for others, tend to be industry leaders themselves. Seasonic is certainly an industry leader in power supplies, as is FN Herstal for rifle barrels, or GE for electronics, Intel for CPUs, etc.

Fanless 400W is looking quite nice for my new HTPC.

wow that 1200 would be nice for my new folding rig. unfortunately though, im sure their modular cables are still going to be a pain in the ass to sleeve.

Apologize for the almost-double-post, but I can't seem to find an ETA for release on these models. Anyone know when they're supposed to be out?

The cables are quite possibly the *only* downside with Seasonic PSU's.

While the units themselves are near-flawless and the best that the industry has to offer, oh god their cables are so stiff, difficult to bend and apply custom sleeving to :S
