Where are the AMD PCI 3.0 Motherboards?

Thread Starter
Hi guys, I'[m about to build a new PC and I'm pissed that there are no AMD mobo's with pci 3.0. They released their new 7000 series, I will buy a 77870. I wanted to build a PC with an AMD FX8120.
But there's no way that I'll make my PCI 3.0 card run on a PCI 2.0 slot, because people say that the card is able to receive data two times as fast, or something like that... The point is, with Computers you have to go all the way the first time, so you don't find yourself changing your components everyday.

I heard that Intel dropped the price of their i5 3570k to $200, although way more expensive than the cheap $145 8 core AMD FX 8120, the board that come with Intel sockets are usually better, including the pci 3.0.

Damn it also annoys me how many AMD boards don't support RAM over 2000, I'll be buying 2133 mhz RAM, but I ended up fining the ASUS M5A99X Evo, which does support it. But since I am going all the way, I wanted to build a RED themed computer, (I know I'm acting like a picky dumbass) but I can only do it once so that's why. I don't plan on spending this much money everyday. biggrin.gif

THE POINT IS:

WHERE ARE THE AMD PCI 3.0 MOTHERBOARDS????? WILL THEY COME OUT IN AMD'S NEXT LINE OF CPU'S?

Why don't use Intel then?...

Plus there are no graphics cards that can fully saturate the bandwidth of even a PCI-E 2.0 slot.

Also, 1866+ speed RAM is virtually useless unless you're using it for a specific RAM-intensive task (rendering).

Whether you put your card in a PCI 3 or 2 slot, you will notice no difference in gaming.

A 3570k will rip an 8120 a new one.

when it comes to gaming, you wont notice a difference between 1600mhz and 3000mhz.

i would not get the 8120, because piledriver is right around the corner.

Are you trolling? Every one knows pcie 3 gains NO performance boost at all, the initial review show the very small gains were PURELY from the newer cpu and chipset and not the pcoe3 slot. If i felt like wasting my time i could even do google search and post a link to said review.

8120 wouldnt be able to push the gpu's to saturate 2.0 let alone 3.0 which is likely why they dont have any

I havernt seen any AMD boards with PCIe 3.0 either.. but your card will run fine on PCI Express 2.0... mine hd7950 doesnt saturate PCI Express 2.0 so yeah i would worry about it..

I dont see AMD borads/CPU's having PCIe3.0 in the foreseeable future

PCI-E 3.0 is like SATAIII or SATA 6.0. There is no hard drive that can saturate the bandwidth of SATA II. Only SSDs will saturate the bandwidth of SATA III. Except, in the case of video cards, there is no "SSD" equivalent.

PCI-E 3.0 may raise board costs too, so... don't even worry about this
post #8 of 26
What other's have said, but isn't it ironic that AMD releases something that only their competitor has available?

I think Vega showed that a Crossfire 7970 and up is already bottlenecked by a PCIe 2.1 setup.

Edit: Or was it Tri-fire?
